All Things Andy - From A to Z

Promoting and sharing the pop-world vision of the late artist Andy Warhol - products for collecting, displaying, or just fun stuff.

Perhaps in the namesake "The Exploding Plastic Inevitable," Warhol was in effect referring to the abounding succeess his images were recieving in the 60's. A native of Pittsburgh, Warhol came from a newly imigrated Polish family and spent much of his childhood unwell. His art talent emerged early, and he drew and painted often as a child.

His later career led him to designing commercial advertisements and store displays, and his inventiveness led him to attempt new media throughout his career. Warhol's career spanned painting, printmaking, film, photography, music production and numerous unclassifed... shall we say, experiments. His fixation with celebrities, high profile publications, and irreverent projects lines a long road, despite the "15 minutes of fame" to which he believed everyone was entitiled.

The art seen here represents some of my favorite aspects, as an educator in art history, of Warhol's surge in merchandise and historic iconography. I hope, by visiting this site, you will gain some knowledge into the frenetic pop-art movement (what does it all mean?!) and some enjoyment for the odd brand of genius that was Andy Warhol.
