Wow, there's an impressive amount of information here. I'll be passing this along to a couple of artists I know. Thanks for all your hard work!

Thank you for such a great and informative lens, and for all your wonderful art lenses on Squidoo. You provide a wonderful service for artists and art lovers.

You screen all comments, I think that says it all, very self serving
  • makingamark Mar 15, 2012 @ 8:37 pm | delete
Self serving? how do you make that out?

I see you;re a very new member of Squidoo and hence obviously do not appreciate the extent to which popular sites which do not moderate comments can become a target for spam.

I moderate comments purely to screen out spam and make the reading experience much more pleasant for my readers. Serving my readers if you like!

While your article is interesting and geared to artists marketing their work, no mention is ever made about how images are usurped without permission and published all over the web, just like another corporate product, bunched with interior work and clips and whatever. You are merged with zazzle who pays its artists so slowly one must guess they really dont want to pay them the pennies they do pay, and they along with fine art america and others posts images indescriminately all over the web, while it is in their capaicity to block third party rip offs, but it serves their sales interest and not the artists integrity. As an artist I need to speak out. when I post an image to a site I expect it to be there and no where else unless I give permission.
  • makingamark Mar 15, 2012 @ 8:35 pm | delete
I tend to agree with you - art should only apply on the host site you signed up to and nowhere else without your agreement. It's not as if there aren't enough artists who'd be very happy to have their artwork featured on adverts for the host site.

Did you read the terms of service before you signed up?

Gosh, I wonder with the state of the economy, if this is adversely affecting artists?

Wow! You have a ton of great information about how to create and art business and some really useful strategies. I'm doing some research for my mother who is a up and coming artist, and was looking for some good ideas for her to start her business.

I own a marketing company but I don't really specialize in art business. I can say that I found a great deal of information and resources on your lens. I have sent her the link to your lens and get her this information. I litterally spent about 1 hour on your page. Thanks for adding such a great lens to the squidoo community.

    Cheers!

Artstudio - the e-mail address on my 'about me' page on my website is an image not a clickable link. You have to write it out I'm afraid. I wish I could do otherwise but doing it this way reduced the level of spam for that particular e-mail address.

Wow..this is so helpful, I cannot begin to express my relief to find this lense! I started my first lens on mixed content, afraid to try one just on my art - which is actually what I want out there. Thank you for giving me the tools and nerve to make that 2nd lens...
