Paintings, prints and fine art cards

Welcome to my lens about my paintings. I am lucky to be able to do something I enjoy so much but it all kind of happened by accident. It is a hobby that has grown into a job. Now I sell original art as well as prints and greeting cards taken from my paintings AND teach other people how to paint too.
Have a look at my art and tell me what you think (but kindly please!!)

A Happy Accident

How I got started...

Well,I actually trained as a teacher and taught 6 & 7 yr olds for 9 years. I gave up that job when my son was born and he is 26 now! While he was still a baby I started going to a painting class one afternoon a week although I have always painted and drawn and this went on for 3years or so until the lady who was teaching us retired and I was asked to take over the class!
That left me without a painting class to go to and so I enrolled for an evening class in the next town. That lasted a year and then one evening the teacher didn't show up and said he wasn't coming in any more. Guess who got the job??
While all this was happening my mother in law encouraged me to start exhibiting. Daunting at first --but one thing led to another and now I have had 6 of my own shows and have paintings in a number of galleries (real and virtual!).
Then a few years ago a small local firm approached me to do cards and prints with
them and that has been fantastic. I still get a buzz from seeing the cards on sale in shops.
I paint nearly every day and now run painting classes privately for about 70 adult students which is really rewarding and good for me too because it means I get out and meet people. Otherwise I think it would be a pretty solitary existence.....just me and Radio 4!

Amaryllis

Flower painting

As I said flowers are a favourite subject....here is another example

One of my Favourites

A Favourite Painting

I really enjoy painting white flowers and I think the dark almost abstract background is a good way to set them off.
Do you agree?

Pink Poppies

Watercolour of Papaver Somniferum-the opium poppy

I was really pleased with the blue greens against the pink

Miniature Cyclamen

The latest painting project for my classes

This was a two week project working from life. The leaves, with their intricate pattern, take more painting than the flowers!
