~The eyes, windows to their souls, to share a glimpse is magical~
An Idaho artist, who is inspired by the beauty of nature and wildlife.
I started with pencil drawings as a young girl. Horses were always my favorite subjects, I loved the wildness and freedom of their beauty. I could sit and watch them for hours on end.
The big cats have since taken hold of my heart. So wild, full of life, so powerful and yet so gentle with their loved ones. Many, like the Amur Leopard are on the endangered species list.
I find myself wanting to paint anything in nature that I find beauty in. My eyes wandered as we travel, storing the memories, hoping that I can recreate that memory on canvas or paper.
(c) ~Fall Morning~ Watercolor ACEO by Lnda Hoxie
In 2007 I started painting and have since fallen in love with it. I enjoy a variety of mediums (Watercolors, Oils and Acrylics) and the qualities that each have.
Sand Dollar Art
The Sand Dollar is beautiful by itself, in all it's natural beauty.
But it also inspires this artist to paint. I love the unique form and texture it provides as a backdrop for my paintings.
I hope you will enjoy the Sand Dollars below.

Reflections of the Setting Sun
About Reflections of the setting Sun
When I am at the ocean, I am always amazed at the beauty that I see around me.
The light play on the water has always fascinated me. The way the Sun shimmers upon it's surface.
The beauty of the reflections of the boats in a harbor.
This was painted after visiting a harbor in Crescent City, California.

~Girl on Beach watching the Sunset~
About the Girl watching the Ocean on the beach
I can sit for hours and hours, watching and listening to the waves crash against the shore, the gulls and pelicans flying diving for fish.
The setting sun send an invitation better than the best movies I have seen.
There is something so beautifully moving about sitting on the beach, on the Oregon Coast and taking in it's beauty.
For me it is a religious feeling of awe, for all the beauty that our creator shares with us. For he is the greatest artist of all!

From the Oregon Coast

Pelican Sunset Beach by Linda Hoxie (On a Sanddollar)
While we were there this time, there were pelicans, a group of 20 or more fishing for hours just off shore. They would fly above watching the water below, then tucking their wings, their beaks aimed straight down. Dive into the cold pacific, coming up with beaks full of fish. What a show it was!

Crescent City Beach by Linda Hoxie
This painting was inspired by the mist on the tree covered mountains, creeping towards the rocky shores of the beach in Crescent City, California.

Heceta Head Lighthouse (ACEO 2 1/2 x 3 1/2) by Linda Hoxie
Near Florence Lies Heceta Head Lighthouse, beautiful on the cliff, high above the waters so deeply blue they look purple.

Ocean storm by Linda Hoxie (ACEO 2 1/2 x 3 1/2)
Inspired by the Oregon Coast, Ocean Storm was entirely my own creation. Painted while we were in Florence, Oregon.

~A Creek~
Inspired by the memories of this artist of fishing at Wikiup Creek, near Bear Idaho in her younger days with her husband. The call of the pair of hawks that always flew over head. My husband, always the comedian named one of them Bigka. There were always chipmunks at play, and beavers building their damns, attempting to make lakes. Fond fishing days those were, catching nice pan sized Brook trout.

~Sunset Waves~
My favorite place to spend time is the oregon coast. It is where I would love to retire. I love watching the sunset over the ocean!

~White Beauty~
My love of horses has stayed with me over the years, content now to just watch them from a distance. Yet I can still remember with fond memory the smell of the horse, the leather of the saddles and hay. The warm feeling of their skin. So gentle yet strong they are.

Northern Light Series No. 13
"Snow Light, So Bright"
The Northern Light Series was created because of my love of the phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis.
Northern lights, or aurora borealis, are actually caused by solar wind colliding with air molecules in the earth's atmosphere.
The results are spectacular!

What fabulous talent! I really enjoyed this lens. I wish I had you to record the wondrous depths of my Amber's eyes before I lost her. I have brightened the intense mode of my caregiver involvements with some fun in a light-hearted "MonkeyBrain" - "DOGSvsCATS" - but perhaps I need the BIG cats and horses, too! They are magnificient. Those eyes... 5***** to you!

Impressive work, subtle and moving, congratulations!
Hi Linda - thank you for the nice comments about my artwork from 2-28; I'm just learning how a squidoo works and didn't see your comment until today. I like your manatee painting...my husband is an underwater photographer and has many photos of manatees playing that he took in Florida and a reserve there. - I notice you do ACEOs-I don't know what they are, and do you sell many? Is it worth the effort? I'd like your opinion. - Linda

Fetching RSS feed... please stand byA Note About the Charity I choose-Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Cancer of one type or another has touched the lives of many of our family and many friends.
In October I am walking in the Light the Night Walk for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at Ann Morrison Park in Boise.
I am walking this year in honor of Marilyn again, she is our cousin and has battled both with breast cancer and now Leukemia. She is now in remission and doing well, sounds great when we talk on the phone and is growing all her hair back, even working out.
This is after a year of isolation while she underwent a bone marrow, stem cell transplant from her brother, and chemo. She had to stay in a special apartment in Seattle for the entire time. No one allowed in that was sick. No perfumes, flowers, etc. She is just this amazing spirit, so sweet and strong.
I am also walking in honor of Misty, our cousin Mark's daughter. She is 23, the same age as our son Brandon. She has just been diagnosed with Lymphoma.
She was going in today to find out if she will be doing chemo, radiation or both. She has two small children. Please keep her in your prayers!
I would love for any of you to join me in my commitment to help this cause. By donating to the cause at my donation page at My Leukemia and Lymphoma donation page for the walk in October, and purchase from this webpage will send a percentage to the cause too!
Thank you!
