ACEOs are amazing little canvases. These mini or pocket art pieces must measure 2.5 x 3.5 to qualify for ACEO/ATC status. ACEOs are sold mostly on eBay and on private websites. I'm sure there are other venues for them but because the tradition has long been held that these cards should be TRADED and not sold there is some hard feelings amongst the artist community about the legitimacy of this art.
I personally became involved in working with this size art during my recovery following breast cancer surgery. Because my mastectomy scar didn't allow for me to paint the large canvases as I had once done, I searched for a smaller format and one day stumbled across the whole ACEO movement on eBay.
I embraced these cards with a passion. Finally I had an outlet for my work that didn't require a lot of supplies. I could sit in bed and sketch these tiny canvases and with a box of watercolors paint them quickly and easily in my bedroom studio. I have been painting ACEOs for about 18 months and now I'm finding that my digital work is finding its way onto my cards.
I hope to encourage others to try this unassuming art form and in future posts will give ideas and instructions for what to use to make them.
ACEOs...an artistic challange.

I've launched an ATC Group here at Squidoo, and I'd love it if you would add this lens to it! :)
