New Painting: Vantage Point: Looking Across the Marsh

20x30, plein air painting, acrylic on linen

Here's a recent painting from the new Founders Memorial Park in Old Saybrook, CT. The park is located high up on an outcropping with spectacular views of north Cove and the Connecticut River. This vantage point, looking down and out across the marsh, is something I rarely get living along the shoreline, basically at sea level, so I'm really excited about this new place to paint. To find out moe about this painting please visit my website www.janblencowe.com or my blog www.thepaintingsdayproject.com

New Painting: Oyster River September

20x30, plein air, acrylic on linen

This painting began as a demo during a plein air painting workshop I gave in September. September is one of those month's with gorgeous light becasue of the angle of the sun. Find out more about this painting at www.thepaintingadayproject.com or www.janblencowe.com

New Painting: A View From St. Mary's

20x30, plein air, acrylic on linen

The lovely and serene colors of late summer fill the canvas. St. Mary's cemetary borders the marsh, and in the shade of a great oak tree I painted my heart out one late August afternoon. A storm was slowly rolling in over the sound, so the sky and air were restless and the crickets chirruoed furiously. One of the joys of painting outdoors is that you're experinces are vividly brought back when you look at your painting.
