Arthur Series by Marc Brown

My kids have loved Arthur in different ways through different stages of their lives.

My son loved Arthur so much as a toddler that he even had an Arthur birthday party when he was two! Back then we only watched the TV show.

As my son T started preschool, we began to read the Arthur books together, and as T entered grade school himself, he began to be able to identify with Arthur.

As T's little sister got older (and more annoying, according to him) he could really identify with Arthur's troubles with his pesky little sister, D.W. (And my daughter began to love the series, too).

In Kindergarten and first grade, before T was able to really read for himself, he loved to listen to the Arthur audio books in bed at night.

In second, third and fourth grade, T noticed that he was going through many of the same things that Arthur and his friends did, and became even more interested in the stories-- even the ones he had heard or seen over and over again. The same happened with my daughter L as she went through elementary school.

Unlike the other shows they loved as preschoolers, Arthur has remained consistently popular in our house for ten years now!
