DropBox- free online storageDropbox is a Web-based file hosting service operated by Dropbox, Inc. that uses cloud computing to enable users to store and share files and folders with others across the Internet using file synchronization. It was founded in 2007 by Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi as a Y Combinator startup. There are both free and paid services, each with varying options. In comparison to similar services, Dropbox offers a relatively large number of user clients across a variety of desktop and mobile operating systems. There are a total of 10 clients, including versions for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux (official and unofficial), as well as versions for mobile devices, such as Android, Windows Phone 7, iPhone, iPad and BlackBerry, and a web-based client for when no local client is installed. Dropbox uses the freemium financial model and its free service provides 2 GB of free online storage. Users who refer Dropbox to others can gain up to 8 GB of free storage. The service's major competitors include Box.net, Windows Live SkyDrive, Ubuntu One, SugarSync, Mozy, ZumoDrive, SpiderOak and Wuala. Thanks wikipedia ;)

Colts' Gonzalez could miss up to 8 weeks

This is for all the football fans out there. I just realized I have not posted an article on sports... until now.

"NDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Anthony Gonzalez may be out longer than the Colts first feared and they appear to have a replacement for him, too.

Coach Jim Caldwell said the third-year receiver could miss up to two months after spraining ligaments in his right knee during Sunday's 14-12 victory over Jacksonville.

Indiana apparently has signed former Philadelphia receiver Hank Baskett to take Gonzalez's place. Though Caldwell would not confirm the move Thursday, quarterback Peyton Manning did.

"Since Anthony's going to be out a while, hopefully we can catch him up as soon as possible," Manning said when asked directly about having Baskett on the roster. "It's a lot of offense to learn in a couple of days but he's a veteran, so he could help us."

The Colts play Miami on Monday.

Team president Bill Polian said this past Monday that the Colts would only sign a veteran receiver if Gonzalez was expected to miss more than four weeks. The next day, in an interview on NFL Network, Polian acknowledged Gonzalez was going to get a second opinion on the injured knee.

Caldwell did not provide any new details about the injury Thursday other than to say: "It could be two to between six and eight weeks."

Initial reports indicated Gonzalez would not miss more than six weeks.

Losing Gonzalez for an extended period is a big blow to the Colts, who expected their 2007 first-round draft pick to replace Marvin Harrison, the franchise's career receiving leader, in the starting lineup this season. Harrison was released in a cost-cutting move in February and has not been signed.

Gonzalez and Harrison put up nearly identical numbers last season, and the Colts thought Gonzalez was headed for a breakout year until he stepped across the line of scrimmage late in the first quarter Sunday and crumpled to the ground without touching another player.

The injury left the Colts (1-0) perilously thin at receiver. Aside from Reggie Wayne, the only other healthy receivers on the roster are second-year pro Pierre Garcon and rookie Austin Collie, a fourth-round draft pick from Brigham Young.

Both put in extra time in the film room this week.

"Pierre is going to be a big part of our game plan, Austin Collie, too, no question," Manning said. "But this is the NFL. You can't just draw up a play and say this ball has got to go to Dallas Clark. Pierre has worked hard over here, I think he spent six hours over the last two days studying film and Austin has done that as well."

Collie already has learned one significant difference between college ball and the NFL.

"I didn't feel as prepared for Jacksonville as I should have been," he said. "I think I underestimated what needs to be put into it, and I think I learned that lesson. I'm getting in the film room more, seeing how they disguise different coverages and different blitzes."

Baskett would give the Colts some intriguing possibilities. At 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, he's bigger than any other Indy receiver.

He spent all three of his previous NFL seasons with the Eagles, who reached the NFC Championship game last year. But Baskett has just 72 career receptions for 1,052 yards and six TDs, and he caught only one pass for six yards in Sunday's rout of Carolina.

The Eagles released Baskett on Wednesday."

Swayze: Outlived Most With Pancreatic Cancer

Once again I have an article to post because the world can't go one day and not do anything. lol that would be funny. A whole day where the world just chilled. Anyway here's an article about a good actor who battled cancer.

"Patrick Swayze passed away Monday at the age of 57, but his 20-month battle with pancreatic cancer showed how tough the disease is -- and how unusual it is for people to survive with it as long as he did.

When Swayze was diagnosed, he was given a few months to live.

"The median survival is probably five months," said Dr. Lucas Wong, co-director of the gastrointestinal cancer program at Scott & White Memorial Hospital & Clinic in Temple, Texas. Wong's assessment was confirmed by several other oncologists who work with pancreatic cancer patients.

Wong said that five months represents the median survival time, so half of all patients would be expected to live beyond that time. In Swayze's case, other factors would suggest he would outlive five months.

For one, Swayze really seemed to benefit from his regimen of chemotherapy, typically administered to pancreatic cancer patients in a drug called gemcitabine.

"There are people who do better than others, even those with advanced disease," said Dr. Suresh Chari, a gastroenterologist specializing in pancreatic cancer at the Mayo Clinic. "Almost all chemotherapy agents ... do benefit some subset of patients."

Athlete, Dancer -- and Smoker

It may also have helped that Swayze, a dancer, stayed in shape his whole life, and remained active even after his diagnosis. He filmed a full season of the A&E series "The Beast," often working 12-hour work days.

"I encourage my patients to do whatever their body allows them to do," said Chari, although he said many patients feel fatigue from the cancer and are therefore unable to maintain an active lifestyle, even if they would like to.

But Swayze also smoked, and continued to smoke after his diagnosis. Smoking is just one factor that may have led to the cancer.

"Smoking is definitely a risk factor for pancreatic cancer," said Chari, noting that, by some estimates, up to a quarter of the 37,000 annual pancreatic cancer cases may be due to smoking.

Could he have fought the disease longer by quitting cigarettes? Not likely, say doctors.

"Once the cancer has spread and all this happened ... continuing smoking, I don't think, mattered at that point," said Chari.

Swayze was diagnosed initially with stage four pancreatic cancer -- the most severe form -- and the disease had already spread to his liver."

Boy fakes kidnapping to shed bad report card

Ha ha ha. This is so funny. It's amazing what some people will do to get out of trouble.

"HUNTSVILLE, AL -- An 11-year-old boy faked his kidnapping Friday to avoid bringing home his bad report card, Huntsville police said.

The Ed White Middle School student claimed a man in a red, beat-up car grabbed him after school at the intersection of Trail Ridge and Grizzard roads and forced him into the vehicle.

"I'm going to take you somewhere and kill you," the boy claimed the man said. The boy also said the man had a pistol.

The boy then claimed to have jumped from the vehicle - without his bookbag, which contained the report card - and ran to his grandparents' house.

That's when the boy confessed to making the whole thing up to cover for his bad grades. His grandfather called police to apologize and report the boy's story.

Sgt. Mark Roberts said police were suspicious of the boy when he was able to "escape" with his band instrument, but not his bookbag.

Police were notified of a possible kidnapping about 4:20 p.m., but it is unclear who reported it.

Roberts said the boy faces no charges at this time.

The whereabouts of the bookbag and report card are unknown."

I think this kid should have just given his parents the bad grades to begin with. Tell us what you think about this below. Later Random Readers

'How to (finally) apologize' by Serena Williams

Well this is a story all you tennis fans might have something to say. I'm sure anyone who is following the US Open heard what happened to Serena Williams. Well this is how it ended.

"It took 36 hours, one press conference, two statements and an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, but Serena Williams finally issued a legitimate apology for her tirade in a U.S. Open semifinal match.

Yesterday Serena issued a statement through the USTA that was striking in its stubborness and lack of contrition. Today, before she and her sister Venus were to play in the womens' doubles finals, Serena released a new, real apology:

"I want to amend my press statement of yesterday, and want to make it clear as possible - I want to sincerely apologize FIRST to the lines woman, Kim Clijsters, the USTA and mostly tennis fans everywhere for my inappropriate outburst. I'm a woman of great pride, faith and integrity, and I admit when I'm wrong. I need to make it clear to all young people that I handled myself inappropriately and it's not the way to act -- win or lose, good call or bad call in any sport, in any manner.

I like to lead by example. We all learn from experiences both good and bad, I will learn and grow from this, and be a better person as a result."

That's better. That's the statement Serena should have released yesterday.

Whether she means it or not is irrelevent at this point. It had to be said, if only to appease the masses and stop the hail of criticism being lobbed at her.

For what it's worth, the odds are that Serena doesn't mean it. It's more likely someone (either her handlers, sponsors or USTA bigwigs) got to her and let her know that a sincere-sounding apology was necessary to stem the backlash.

Serena has been defiant about the incident since it happened, even joking about it last night at the MTV Video Music Awards. It certainly doesn't seem like she's sorry for it. Rather, all of her actions and statements indicate that Serena still thinks this is about the atrocious foot fault call instead of her tirade.

Whatever she thinks (and only she can know that), at least Serena had the sense to finally issue a "real" apology. That's a start.

Update: And we're back to square one. After Serena and Venus won the U.S. Open women's doubles title Monday, Serena passed up a chance to apologize in person for Saturday night. Instead she babbled the same nonsense about loving her fans for "understanding"."

Ex-race horse makes recovery after suffering abuse

Aww. Poor horse. I actually like horse races so this is a little sad.

"MIAMI -- When rescuers found the horse, he was tied to a palm tree on a Northwest Miami-Dade County farm where animals die for meat: a skinny, diseased wreck with rotting hooves and hide. Only the tattoo inside his upper lip hinted at his regal bloodline: Freedom's Flight, descendant of Triple Crown winners Seattle Slew and Secretariat.

"Anything that could be wrong with a horse was wrong with him," said Richard Cuoto, now Freedom's Flight's owner. "He's a fighter, but he had his head down, like, 'Just shoot me.'"

Freedom's Flight's descent from the thoroughbred circuit's pampered paddocks into equine hell took just three months after a mishap at Gulfstream Park. It's not possible to document each step of his sad journey, but Cuoto, a board member of the South Florida Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, believes he was destined for the underground horse meat market.

"He was thrown away three, four times," Cuoto said.

Freedom's Flight was born Feb. 16, 2005, at Claiborne Farm in Kentucky's Bluegrass region, linked to greatness by sire and dam.

His father, Pulpit, is the grandson of Seattle Slew, who won the Triple Crown in 1977. Freedom Flight's great-great grandfather, the legendary Secretariat, won it in 1973.

His mother is Heather's Flight, granddaughter of Nijinsky, great-granddaughter of Northern Dancer.

Herman Heinlein of Plantation, a retired New York landscape contractor, owns Heather's Flight and expected great things from her foal.

"We had high hopes," said Heinlein, 76, "but these things happen."

After the horse failed to draw a six-figure bid at Kentucky's prestigious Keeneland Yearling Sale, Heinlein sent him to Florida, where he raced for the first time Dec. 22, 2007, at Calder.

On April 4, 2008, after another two races, Freedom's Flight made his only run as a 3-year-old, at Gulfstream. Seconds after clearing the gate, his front leg snapped but didn't pierce the skin. He came from the back of the pack to finish third anyway.

"He's a competitor," Cuoto said. "When they're on the track, they know where the finish line is . . . The jockey didn't know he was injured. Right after finish line, he started to break down."

Trainer Jose Pinchin called Heinlein to report the injury.

"They told me his racing career was over," said Heinlein, who owns 100 horses. He faced a choice: pay to euthanize Freedom's Flight or, as Pinchin suggested, give him to Marian Brill, a 44-year veteran of Florida racing and a horse rescuer.

To a racehorse owner, an animal that can't run "is a broken machine that don't work," Brill said. "They get rid of it."

Heinlein says he kept title to the horse "because I didn't want somebody to get him back to racing."

Still a stallion, Freedom's Flight could have undergone expensive treatment for his leg then become a breeder, but "he never proved himself as a racehorse," said Brill, and since his famous ancestors begat hundreds of offspring, "Why breed the one that's farther down the line?"

Brill said she "started rehabbing him" but his injuries were too daunting. Then, she said, a man whose name she didn't know bought him for $500.

"They loaded him on a trailer and left," she said.

For the next two months, Freedom's Flight endured both insult and injury. Based on conversations with state parimutuel investigators, Cuoto believes that for part of that time, he hobbled along on his broken leg as a riding pony for kids."

Police: Robber returned, asked victim for date

I am really making progress on improving the performance of The Article Grabber. RR Storage is officially working. Well this is a funny little story for you. This is why you should be a criminal. You don't want to end up like this guy.

"COLUMBUS, Ohio - A robbery suspect was arrested when he returned to the scene of the crime to ask the victim out on a date, police said.

Columbus police allege that Stephfon Bennett, 20, was among three men who robbed a couple late Sunday.

Sgt. Sean Laird said the woman recognized Bennett as one of the robbers when he returned to ask her out about two hours later. She had a relative call 911.

Police said Bennett was arrested in front of the home.

He was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of aggravated robbery and was being held in the Franklin County jail on $100,000 bail.

A public defender had not yet been assigned to Bennett's case, officials said."
