1. Identify the proper keywords. One of the best ways to do this is with the Google Keyword Tool. It also helps to make a list of your hobbies, interests, and topics as well as niches about which you want to write articles then use the Google tool to find keywords for your articles. You can also go to article directories such as Ezinearticles.com and look at the most popular articles and take notice of what keywords they are using.

2. Write your articles. You can write them yourself, use PLR articles and make changes to them, or hire a ghost writer. I recommend writing them yourself. Make sure to include a catchy byline with a link to your website. Don't worry about being perfect as your first article will not be the best but with time your articles will improve. Make sure to use the keywords you found in step 1.

3. Find places online to publish your articles. The main options are: article directories, ezines, other websites, your own website, your blog, other blogs, and online magazines. You want to have the goal of getting some of your articles on to high traffic sites such as about.com and other industry specific sites. Many of the sites offer you the chance to submit articles and they tell you want they are looking for. You can also write an article specifically for a certain site or ezine. I have found this later option to be the most profitable.
