Article Writing - Introduction

You've probably heard of the effectiveness of article marketing in generating targeted website traffic and increasing Goggle PR. You've also most likely heard or read somewhere how a guy made thousands per day using article marketing alone, and how another guy increased his website's PR from 0 to 5 in 3 months using article marketing. Well, these are probably true. I've had my own success with article marketing. Using article marketing alone, I've converted a brand-new, zero-visitor website into a PR 4 cash cow machine making me at least $1200/day within 3 months. I've also helped others do the same. But before you get carried away and start dreaming of money tree and wishing well, lets get back to the core of article marketing, that is Article Writing.

The words "article writing" may cause a lot of people to grip with fear, but fear not my friend, for article marketing is actually not as fearful as it seems to be. I've never written a single article before I started doing business online. Writing my first 5 articles was a struggle. But once I get a grasp of the whole process, it became natural and easy. Below are some methods to write articles depending on your ability and financial capability.

Write Your Own Articles from Scratch

This is probably the most ideal method. It's free. In addition, writing your own article improves your writing skill.

Everyone has their own way of writing articles. Here's my way of doing it. First I make an outline/skeleton of the important elements of the article. Then I add the meat. Where do I get the meat? Research! Google is my best friend. Here are some websites that might be useful to you:

A word of advice: Do not copy the content from other websites word by word. Plagiarism will get you into trouble sooner or later. Instead, do your research, then write in YOUR OWN words. Don't forget to run your article through a spelling and grammar checker. Microsoft Word® has it.

Rewrite PLR Articles

This is the method I used the least. Well, actually I never used it before. Let me tell you why. The web is already full of junk and rehashed articles. If you've tried searching for content/articles for your website or ezines on any well-known article directories, you'll find tons of worthless, rehashed, rewritten junk. In the early days, there was no such problem. I could find a high quality article for my ezine easily. Now I had to wade through tons of junk to find an acceptable article. As time passes, some marketers who wanted something for nothing started jumping into the article marketing bandwagon. Suddenly, lots of junk were produced. The problem becomes more severe over time and persisted till today, sadly. As an ethical marketer, why contribute more to the problem?

Another reason why I don't use rewriten PLR articles is why would I want my name and website to be associated with such low-quality articles? Don't forget when you submit your article to an article directory, it gets distributed and probably republished on thousands of other websites, and viewed by thousands of surfers. Unless you don't care about reputation, then that's probably not what you want.

With that said, if you're still interested, use the search engine to find and compare websites that sell PLR articles. Good luck with your search!

Article Writing/Rewriting Software

Initially, I decided not to list this method here for fear that unscrupulous marketers would try to use them to make quick bucks. But I eventually put it here to help others avoid the pitfall I encountered. Let me tell you this, I've tried nearly a dozen of so-called article writing/rewriting/spinning software. Nearly all of them produced junk articles. Some simply replaced words using a thesaurus, some scrambled sentences and paragraphs, and some grabbed a similarly themed paragraph from the internet and append it to my PLR article. The aim is to make the article unique. Well, the article did become unique to a certain extent BUT it was garbage to the reader.

There was this software which promised to write high-quality unique articles in minutes. It turned out that this piece of crap grabbed the content from different websites/sources on the Internet and arranged them into a unique article! No wonder it was so fast! But I was lucky I didn't get sued for plagiarizing the content of others!

Nuff said.

The only software that I use now is Microsoft Word®. In fact, any decent word processing software would do the work fine. So don't waste your hard-earned money on article writing/rewriting crap!

By the way, a marketer friend of mine recently gave me (for a reason) an article writing software he said is worth around 300 bucks. He said this software is different from the rest. I doubt it. Anyway, I'll give it a try and let you all know the results in the coming days ;-)

When it comes to writing articles many things sure have changed. Then again, many basics are still essentially the same.

I like this lens! Solid information on writing articles. I usually get an idea for writing and I keep it in my head for several days sometimes weeks before I put in a lens or anything else. A lot of times I may update with other information, I've found or if I have enough information to link to a particular lens or web site.

This is a very good resource on a topic which is so much misunderstood. Partly as a result of the junk ebook advice out there about article writing. Thank you for bringing some honesty to this topic! A refreshing change.
