Article Marketing is the web-based crossroads where content-hungry demand meets information-rich supply. Whether you're a writer, a solopreneur, a regular office joe or just someone with a headful of useful knowledge, article marketing is a great way to trade information for public credit and recognition through a process that has the potential to provide amazing returns.

Article Marketing - What it is and why you should care

Ever since the advent of web and email 'zines, websites, blogs and other content-rich material, the creators of these materials have been in desperate need of one vital resource - a constant source of quality content at little or no cost.

One the other end of the equation is the small business owner, the entrepreneur, the hobbyist, the enthusiast, the expert and the specialist - people with information to burn and a desire for public recognition.

Article marketing brings these two side together. It trades expertise for exposure, content for credits, savvy for search engine rankings. Article marketing creates a steady and ever-growing stream of quality link-backs. It's a marketing engine that builds its own momentum. It's a sales force that markets you Web-wide, 24/7, while you're busy doing other things.

In short, article marketing is a shortcut to all that is good and holy in today's business world - credibility, visibility and keyword searchability.

And if you have access to the Internet and the ability to rub two words together to produce a spark of entertaining and valuable content (or the desire to learn), it's all yours.

The Basics:

1. Write a great content-based, keyword-rich article (300-700 words, generally) in your field of interest or business.

2. Create a short "resource box" with your copyright info, Unique Selling Proposition, a call to action, links to your website and any special offers and any other info you might have that is relevant to the article you've written. Append resource box to end of article.

3. Submit to one or more high quality, heavily trafficked article directories.

4. Sit back and watch the page views roll in.

5. Rinse, repeat.

Read Zero-Pain Marketing, an article about Article Marketing that I wrote for a life coaching newsletter, for a more in-depth look at the process and it's advantages in information-based industries.

Not a writer? Not a problem!

So, you say this article marketing stuff sounds like a great idea - except that you couldn't write your way out of a wet paper bag with a sharp pen and a TelePrompter.

Well, there's an easy solution to that and it's called a professional freelance writer. Coincidentally enough, I just happen to be such a writer.

Yes, I am available to create keyword dense, punchy content - with your name as the copyright owner on it - for a reasonable fee. How reasonable depends on the topic, the research involved and the length of the piece. Check out my Write Livelihood lens for more information.

About sonipitts

Hello world! My name is Soni and I am basically a free-range bon vivant.

If you ask me what I do, I'm just as likely to answer "When?" as to provide the more socially acceptable (and helpful) tangible life-tag. That's because I do whatever strikes my fancy and then play with it until I get bored and move on.

Currently, I am enjoying some amazingly cool success as a life coach (specializing in helping people make more sustainable choices about their life and their lifestyle), helping to run a social capital and networking learning community and am in the early stages of poking around in the business of freelance writing and copywriting. In the past, I have been an exotic dancer, an Americorps member building homes for the Durham, NC Habitat for Humanity and a librarian, among other things. I am also a legally ordained minister, for what it's worth, although I do not actually do much with it at the moment.

As for the future? Who knows...hopefully it will be fun, useful and leave the corporeal plane a better place than it was when I got here.
