Need To Write An Artist Bio? Let Me Write It For You!

Ranked #2,895 in Books, Poetry & Writing, #113,322 overall | Donates to Young Inventors International

Every Artist Needs to Promote Themselves...

Do you need to write a one-page bio or article about yourself but haven't the slightest idea where to begin?

It can be really difficult to write about yourself. Not because you don't know everything there is to know about you and what you do, but because figuring out how to phrase it in the right way can be tough. What aspects of your career should you highlight? How are you supposed to paint yourself in a good light without sounding too full of yourself? A bio can be one of the toughest and most frustrating things for an artist to write. And yet, you still need it to promote yourself and your work!

Why not hire someone who is a professional writer and take the stress off? It's not expensive and you don't have to spend any more time staring at a blank Microsoft Word page with nothing but your name at the top.

Don't Be Shy!

The Process Is Simple

I offer bio/article writing services at extremely affordable prices - and my clients are very happy with the results!

200-300 Words: $40
400-500 Words: $50

(If you need a longer article I am more than happy to consider writing it. Please contact me and let me know what you need and we can work something out.)

You send me the basic information that you would like included in your bio. This can be a resume or simply bullet points highlighting education, accomplishments, awards, etc. If you have any unique stories or quotes you would like for me to include, send me those as well. I may ask you some questions if I need more information.

Examples of your work are a must, so I can effectively describe your style as an artist. If you have a website or place online where your art is displayed, this will help tremendously. If not, a few thumbnails e-mailed to me that I can look at will suffice.

That's it! Then you just sit back, relax, sip a cup of coffee... and within 7 days I will get back to you with your completed bio or article. (If you need it sooner I am of course willing to consider a rush job for an extra fee, depending on how quickly you need it.)

Jerry Potter

Jerry Potter crafts smooth, elegant bowls from wood. Each piece is unique, featuring it's own startlingly beautiful array of patterns, textures, and rich, warm colors. Born and raised in Hawaii, he draws endless inspiration from the blue ocean, pacific weather, and Aloha spirit.

His first bowl was turned in woodshop class, where he instantly fell in love with the magic of transforming a log on the lathe into a work of art. Because woodturning was practiced only by a select few, Jerry went searching for local woodturners. He showed up at the homes of the only three he could find, begging each one to teach him their skill. They all refused. Disheartened, he became a carpenter by trade but never forgot his dream.

While reminiscing 14 years later, he shared his failed journey with a coworker. His friend responded with a half-smile and revealed, to Jerry's shock, that he was actually a master woodturner -- and offered to teach him. Jerry immediately accepted, thrilled at this unexpected opportunity. Months were spent training and turning bowls.

Potter always begins with trees that have been removed by the landowner for safety reasons or natural causes, having vowed to never take a chainsaw to a tree for art. Each bowl has its own story; the log it was born from, where the tree was harvested, why it was removed, the age of the tree, the struggles it endured as it grew (revealed in its rings) as well as the inspiration for the design itself. Every story is lovingly recorded and included with the bowl.

Jerry Potter is a gifted artist with a passion for creating these one-of-a-kind heirlooms. His work brings him tremendous joy, and he loves being able to share that joy with others through his art.

What Jerry Potter has to say about Tien...

"I absolutly love my bio, you should of seen the smile i had from ear to ear. Your work with words and professional writting flows so nicely. I'm so satisfied and cant thank you enough."

"I simply foumd myself at a dead stop. This past year as a wood artist, it has had its obstacles, but I've always somehow found a way to work around it. My biggest obstacle was writing my biography, I've put it off for so long to the point where i couldnt hide from it any longer. It was time whether i liked or not.

After a few attempts, i realized that there was no possible way... putting feelings into words was impossible and the language was totally foreign. Desperately looking for help i stumbled across Tien's site and read some of her work. It was magical and at the same time I felt a sense of relief. I was deeply moved with her proffesional writing skills and how her use of words had so much meaning.

I'm truly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such talent, and urge anyone experiencing this same fear to contact Tien and just ask for her help. Im extremly happy and love my bio, it will be the highlight of my website and brochure. Tien's proffesional writing skills is her cup of tea."

The careful and delightful way in which each element is placed in the frame reveals his innate talent for composition. There is perfect balance and flow working together in harmony.

The most intriguing aspect of his photos is the way he creates a sense of atmosphere in each and every one. Through long-exposure and unique use of light he produces this mysterious, ethereal ambience. It hangs in the air like a blanket of soft mist, settling in and filling the viewer with a sense of peaceful stillness. Some of his more rustic pieces have a totally different look but still manage to reflect this same feeling of quiet serenity. Weiss was born in 1960 and raised in Woodland Hills, California. He first took an interest in photography when he was 16 and would frequently venture out into the hills near his house to take lots of pictures. He enjoyed it so much that he continued to pursue photography throughout his teenage years. Later he attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and graduated in 1983.

Over the years he has assisted top photographers and worked in Los Angeles doing various jobs in commercial photography including weddings. Get ready to be transported to another world. A lifetime of dedication, passion, and intense creativity set the stage for some of the most incredible works of art you've ever laid eyes on.

Wendy Froshay's mastery and versatility are awe-inspiring and will floor you the moment you set foot in her studio. Golden sunlight spills through the high-ceiling windows, illuminating a dozen easels, cabinets full of paint supplies, and wall-size canvases depicting an incredible diversity of subjects. Horses race across the savannah in a blaze of fiery dust and heat. A bare winged woman with eyes that are pools of sadness sits softly in a sea of unfamiliarity, unprotected. Emotions speak through visual splashes of hue and color in abstract form, expressing a whole new language of the soul. It would be easy to spend hours soaking up the beauty and sense of possibility that permeates this serene space.

Looking around, one would quickly notice that there are not only a wide variety of subjects, but also mediums. Unlike some artists who focus on just one thing, Wendy goes beyond; excelling in oil, watercolor, acrylics, charcoal, and contemporary textures. She likes to mix different things together and is always experimenting and playing. Though she focuses her style primarily in abstract naturalism, there is nothing that this artist cannot paint.

If you ask any of her students, you will also discover that there is nothing that she cannot teach, either.

"It's hard to put into words all the ways Wendy Froshay has helped me develop as an artist," her long-time student Anjali gushes. "I have taken oil painting classes in the past and I have never had someone gently guide me to my own discoveries the way Wendy has. Through a combination of practical demonstration and inspirational anecdotes, she has brought me a long way in a relatively short period of time."

Being around her enthusiasm and passion is infectious; you cannot help but feel inspired talking to her. It is this fire for life and joie de vivre that touches all those who know her and radiates from every one of her paintings. It is easy to see why collectors gather from all over to purchase her work and brag that they own a Froshay original. She has attracted an incredible following and continues to live the artist's dream.

John R. Math

With each photograph, John Math asks each of us to take a journey into the heart and soul of a single subject. Streaks of vibrant color and subtly recognizable shapes embody these soft abstract works of art that have come to be so well-loved by the interior design industry.

His goal when creating a piece is to capture the overall feeling of that particular subject. Regardless of what one might initially think, he does not use any digital enhancements or manipulations through either filters or software. Remarkably, he creates every one of his photos with only a camera.

The essence of Math's unique voice is simplicity. He has taken complex subjects and distilled them down to their most dominant features. In his mechanical pieces it could be the curve of a tire and the line of a truck. In his nature pieces it could be the pattern of colorful autumn leaves against a blue sky or patches of trees reflected in water. In yet other works he takes his photography completely abstract, to the point where you no longer have any idea of what the original subject matter was. Regardless of the photo, his minimalist style is instantly recognizable in a crowd.

John was initially introduced to photography by his Grandmother and over the years it became a lifelong passion. He is primarily self-taught, although he did spend several years as a photographer's assistant in New York and Fort Lauderdale to multiple commercial photographers. Though he learned a great deal, he felt restricted by the very nature of commercial photography, which allowed for some creativity but was mostly driven by the clients' desires. Eventually they always won out and John found himself having less and less fun.

In the end, he left the commercial photography industry and began a career in real estate, all the while continuing to pursue his photography in his spare time. He enjoyed it much more when he was able to take photos that interested him and did not have to alter it to fit others wishes. As time progressed he was able to gradually devote more and more of his time to his passion.

John Math now resides in Jupiter, Florida. His abstract photography career is filled with dozens of shows and multiple awards. His work is now represented in several states through various agents and galleries. His art is well-loved by people all over the world.

Isaac Smith

Swirls of vibrant colors and waves of glowing gradients set the tone for every Isaac Smith original. His work features the simplicity of elegant curves and shapes that flow across the canvas like a river gently coursing through its banks.

Smith focuses his work primarily in two areas: oils and stained glass. Although the methods of creating in these two contrasting media are vastly different, it is clear to see why they overlap so easily in his world. His oil paintings are strongly reminiscent of stained glass windows in several ways.

Isaac was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He graduated from the University of Alaska with a BA in art and spent most of his life there before moving to Spokane, Washington in 2004. Growing up in a part of the world where there was an excess of light in the summer and a lack of it in the winter impressed upon him a deep sense of contrast. It was because of this that the themes of light and dark became a major influence on his style.

In order to learn how to work with stained glass, Smith spent 4 years as an apprentice to glass artist John Dobbs. He fell in love with the idea of blending the architecture of a home with the style of interior design in order to create a window that will invite more flow into the room it is in. He also thoroughly enjoys creating subtle three-dimensional works of art that play with the changes of light that come from each season. In 1996, Isaac started his own stained glass business and has clients in Alaska, Washington, Idaho, California and even Japan.

It was his mentor and friend Joan Kimura that first inspired him to take up oil painting. She encouraged him to learn from the work of others but most of all to find his own unique voice - which he definitely has. Much of Isaac's work is abstracted, with a wonderful balance of recurring themes and compositions that are endlessly pleasing to the eye. His paintings speak like a visual song, ribbons of notes and lines weave in and loop out in a soul-symphony of light and color.

Just looking at his work, one can tell that intense care goes into the crafting of each image, and that there is a deep well of passion that acts as the catalyst for his artistry. Isaac smith captures the essence of a subject and breathes it to life.

Janina Pazdan

written by Tien Frogget

Janina Pazdan captures the beauty and form of the ballerina. Graceful, flowing lines and soft smudges of color dance slowly across the canvas in a swirl of sweet pastel. Pazdan captures the essence of the dance with gentle and loving strokes. There is an elegance about her work that is rare in the art world, and it is clear that she is very passionate about what she paints.

One of the most striking and compelling aspects of her style is the way her figures are abstracted; you have the opportunity to fill in the rest of the blanks yourself. Your eyes wander through the various lines and streaks of color; looking, searching, and looking some more. She puts just enough down on canvas for you to visualize each ballerina stretching or moving, and not a splash of paint more. The result is three-dimensional bodies enveloped in pools of glowing light that embody not just a dance studio scene, but the emotion and feel of the ballet itself.

Janina was born and raised in Poland. She spent 10 years studying ceramics, sculpture, and oil painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw before graduating in 1983. It is no doubt her practice with these forms that gives her work it's incredible dimensionality.

Much of her inspiration for her impressionistic style is gleaned from many of the greats: Edward Monet, Edgar Degas, Vincent Van Gogh, Henry Toulouse-Lautrec, and Diego Velasquez. In fact, she found tremendous insight and knowledge by painting copies of their masterpieces. She was commissioned to recreate several of their works on the walls and ceilings of a home. Initially, she was terrified that she would not be able to do it, but with a little time and study she was able to complete them, much to the pleasure of the owners. It was the discovery of how to emulate their paintings that led to further mastery in her own work and development of her own style.

Pazdan delights in painting a wide variety of subjects. She has painted flowers, gardens, landscapes, oceanscapes, animals and people (although she admits that people and animals are a joyful challenge for her!) She enjoys finding ways to create abstracts and is inspired by through music and poetry.

It is easy to see why Janina Pazdan's art has found an audience in the interior design world; she has captured a well-loved niche and done so in such an entrancing way. Ballet-lovers and appreciators of art alike are sure to treasure these extraordinary gems.

Richard Harpum

A veritable master of light, Richard Harpum breathes scenes to life on canvas in exquisite detail. Rest your eyes on his artwork and you are instantly drawn in, compelled to look and study and absorb. The more pieces of his work you see the more you find yourself falling in love with the romance and enchantment that pervades each of his creations, wanting nothing more than to step through the canvas and into that domain.

In an ideal world, we would each be able to walk into our own Richard Harpum masterpiece and be fully immersed in his three-dimensional worlds of paint and color and light. Indeed, each painting is so vivid and lifelike that it's easy to imagine.

Though his natural talent is immediately apparent, there is also a great deal of work and study that has laid the foundation for these resplendent works. He began learning at the age of 12 and painted periodically over the years, garnering a Masters Degree of Arts from Cambridge University along the way. However, Harpum didn't truly become serious about his craft until he was in his 50's. Since then he has spent a great deal of time reading and studying other artists in an ongoing effort to learn and improve. It's inspiring to recognize that one who is mostly self-taught can create such technically unparalleled works.

One tool that he swears by is the golden ratio. He believes that this gives his paintings better balance and makes them far more pleasing to the eye than simply using the traditional rule of thirds. Beginning with this in mind, he bases each piece primarily on one original photograph. Richard then adapts to improve composition and contrast, finding inspiration in his rather thorough collection of photographic research. He works for a while, and then stands back to analyze and critique himself. He will then adjust and improve and reconsider, constantly reassuring himself that the painting is going in the direction he wants to take it. Finally, he intuitively "knows" when it is complete.

Richard Harpum believes it is important to continue to learn and grow in one's work, and considers every painting to be an education. It is a real pleasure to continue to see every new piece he produces and delight in the unique way he manipulates light, shadow, and texture to create such a diverse portfolio of subject matter - each one an incredible portrayal of the elegance and beauty of our planet.

Jeff Cane

by Tien Frogget

Jeff Cane is a man with an incredibly unusual story. His journey in life has been a spiritual one guided by inspired action and a willingness to take many risks along the way. Today, he sells his art all over the world. He considers himself more of an entrepreneur than an artist, yet he is invariably both.

Cane's story begins in England, where he had already established himself as a successful and wealthy businessman. His girlfriend was an accomplished aromatherapist who came from a family of healers in Kenya. In 1991, the two of them decided to visit Los Angeles on holiday. While chatting with locals, he realized that few people knew what aromatherapy was. Recognizing the potential of a virtually untapped market, the two of them decided to take a risk and moved to the City of Angels.

Together, they opened a massage business with his girlfriend at the forefront, featuring aromatherapy. They were doing well, but after only a few months she became frustrated and could not stand the crazy Hollywood scene. The people were too much for her to deal with, so she quit. Cane was not one to go running back to London admitting defeat, so he remained in L.A., searching out a new venture with which to reinvent himself.

A spark of inspiration and Jeff found himself starting a unique gift business; he began to create poetry on faux aged parchment that resembled the English relics of yesteryear. He discovered that he had a knack for recreating that medieval look - so much so that they could practically pass for original pieces. With his unique talent and one of a kind niche, Cane created a name for himself and was wildly successful in Hollywood.

He quickly diversified, creating several other products. His company began recreating and framing ancient art. They also started designing marriage certificates on gold leafed parchment (a move which has garnered him more money and publicity than anything else he had sold up until that point - many celebrities still covet these handcrafted treasures.) Not long after, they began creating wood tablets resembling handmade medieval artifacts, and eventually fine replicas of French tiles.

One of his greatest decisions, however, was to take a trip back to England, where he visited an old Victorian Cemetery. There he took many pictures of angel statues to add to his collection of European wares. Little did he know that when he returned to Los Angeles with these photographs, they would completely transform his career. His angels have become single-handedly the most successful aspect of his business.

Today, Jeff Cane is a well-known master in his field and is especially loved by the celebrities who collect and cherish his work. His wide variety of art continues to hang in homes all over the country, uplifting the many spaces they illuminate.
