Favorite Music
I like to listen to upbeat music while I paint and I particularly like "Putumayo World Music" CDs. They are a mixture of African, Latin, and Caribbean, sounds in a fusion of English, French, Spanish, and some other languages I can't recognize. Understanding the words aren't as important as the feeling the music. My two favorites are Caribbean Party and Islands.
Favorite Art Magazine
- Palete Magazine
- I rarely have time to read books because I would rather be painting but I do have favorite magazines. One is an instructional magazine for artists called the Palette magazine which is produced by Cheap Joes art suppliers. It is written by two of the foremost art educators of our day Christopher Schink and Skip Lawrence who are a hoot as well as great artists!
It is good advise and information for beginners as well as experienced painters.
Yupo Paper
I recently discovered Yupo paper and I think I'm in love! It has changed my process of painting in watercolors and the results are brilliant transparent color! It takes a little more effort to get smooth paint on this slick surface but with the help of a house painter's sponge roller the results are amazing. But, the thing I like most about Yupo is that you can wipe away any parts of the painting you don't like and retrieve your pure whites. For a watercolorist this seams like a miracle!
