Here we will discover the symbols and their history. What new symbols are being generated and what do they mean.
Symbols are pictures, images, or objects used to represent ideas, concepts, beliefs, attitudes, or feelings. Symbols can have deep meaning and can evoke powerful emotion, such as the crucifix in Christianity or the Star of David in Judaism.
For a symbol to have significance, its meaning must be known to the viewers. Take, for example, the Chinese symbol for yin and yang. To those who understand its origins as an explanation of the workings of the universe, it is a symbol for the idea that one thing cannot exist without the other. To those who don't know the symbol's meaning, it's an intriguing design with opposing colors and interlocking shapes. It doesn't mean viewers can't enjoy it; it simply means they don't know its deeper or hidden significance. Similarly, a sound such as "meow" to represent a cat has a meaning known to many, but it could be replaced with a word like "jalley" if everyone memorized the new sound and agreed on its meaning.
Symbols in art are humans' oldest form of visual communication. Artists have incorporated symbols into their work since humans first began to delve into the world of visual expression and they painted on cave walls. During later times, those unable to read could still follow along in, say, religious events by looking at and understanding the paintings in their churches. Puzzles, riddles, and symbols are still part of the vast appeal of art.

- You are very accurate in your assertion that the meaning of a symbol certainly does greatly increase the meaning of a symbol to the viewer. Reiki is a mystical sign. While there appear to be thousands of Reiki Practioners, the signs are kept secret for obvious two reasons ..
- first it is said that signs in themselves do not bring any healing, it has to be invoked /channeled into the student (patient). Generally, all patients are given invocation to heal themselves. Higher Levels of invocations are given so that one can heal others or invoke Reiki into others.
- no healing master thought them to be presented in an artistic form and associating a particular art with the invocation.
Higher meditation into Reiki involves finding / creating Mandalas or having contacts with Guide Angels.
The art below does not seem odd or imperfect in some sense that Gold and Blue Ink Colors do not make any sense. This is how my Guru explained me the colors of those signs and I can't help give them other color.
This is the only Reiki Healing Sign available at ART.COM and has been accepted by them after careful appreciation by their Art Critics.
I believe, as many on Face Book now seem to believe that Reiki the Cosmic Healing Energy is already present in all of us. It is just that Reiki Masters re-emphasize to the students how to get back to the NATURE the UNIVERSAL SOURCE of life energy.
REIKI may or may not directly heal you. Reiki can change the way you think about your situation and transform you into a different person. It bring correct diagnosis to your treatment which your Doctor was not able to find so far, or bring in contact with a person of great wisdom who in turn transform your life. Changes can happen in few days or take a life time .. the Universe works at its own speed and does not grant our wishes, it just makes us comfortable knowing our natural self.

In the world of sophisticated sciences, I do not know a single Reiki Guru in Western World who is living out of treating a CANCER or CRITICAL ILLNESS. It is just sold as a medium to heal ourselves as much as we can and get to the natural living. In that context, Reiki helps in changing your mind set to natural living.

Those who will also seek only because they have been blessed to seek. There is more joy in the journey than the destination itself... very few are known have arrived at the destination.
Before the beginning, the Brahman (absolute reality) was one and non-dual. It thought, "I am only one -- may I become many." This caused a vibration which eventually became sound, and this sound was Om. Creation itself was set in motion by the vibration of Om. The closest approach to Brahman is that first sound, Om. Thus, this sacred symbol has become emblematic of Brahman just as images are emblematic of material objects.

The vibration produced by chanting Om in the physical universe corresponds to the original vibration that first arose at the time of creation. The sound of Om is also called Pranava, meaning that it sustains life and runs through Prana or breath. Om also represents the four states of the Supreme Being. The three sounds in Om (AUM) represent the waking, dream and deep sleep states and the silence which surrounds Om represents the "Turiya" state.
Because the first of the three states of consciousness is the waking state, it is represented by the sound "A" pronounced like "A" in accounting. Because the dream state of consciousness lies between the waking and the deep sleep states, it is represented by the letter "U" which lies between the "A" and "M". This "U" is pronounced like the "U" in would. The last state of consciousness is the deep sleep state and is represented by "M" pronounced as in "sum." This closes the pronunciation of Om just as deep sleep is the final stage of the mind at rest. Whenever Om is recited in succession there is an inevitable period of silence between two successive Oms. This silence represents the "fourth state" known as "Turiya" which is the state of perfect bliss when the individual self recognizes his identity with the supreme
