Water Color Painting

Watercolor is a painting method. The traditional and most common support for watercolor paintings is paper. Although watercolor painting is extremely old, dating perhaps to the cave paintings of paleolithic Europe, and has been used for manuscript illumination since at least Egyptian times but especially in the European Middle Ages, its continuous history as an art medium begins in the Renaissance.
Despite this early start, watercolors were generally used by Baroque easel painters only for sketches, copies or cartoons (small scale design drawings).
Despite it's simple beginnings, water color has always had an affect of beauty and evolved into one of the most revered and appreciated medium in painting today. It looks and feels so simple, however creating a good piece of art in watercolor, practice and knowledge along with the right tools are necessary. A medium I adore along with it's challenges, I appreciate the tools and books available in my vain attempt to accomplish a piece I am proud of. This astounding watercolor by Paul Jackson is just one of his many magical creations from something as simple as a gift of glassware he received , inspiring one of his best works. Paul is unprecedented in style and precession creating a new dimension in watercolor painting. Enjoy more of his mastery here Paul Jackson.
There are several sites for you to visit and enjoy, get inspired and even purchase gifts, as his work is recreated on mugs, t-shirts and more.

Inspiration

Cass Gilbert's Palace of Fine Arts: A Visual History of the Saint Louis Art Museum Building is a digital resource providing online access to archival images and information documenting the Saint Louis Art Museum's historic home in Forest Park. St. Louis Art Museum

The Saint Louis Art Museum's building was designed by renowned American architect Cass Gilbert for the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition, also known as the World's Fair. Originally part of the Palace of Fine Arts, the Museum was the only building from the Fair designed to be a permanent structure, the "one material monument of the Exposition." It stands as a reminder of that defining event in the history of the city of St. Louis and the State of Missouri.

As you can see from the picture, the Art Museum's structure and design, all by itself is more than inspiring. Inside these doors is a magical experience with inspirational art around every corner.

Watercolor Paint & Easel Art Set; Everything an Aspiring Artist Needs! (1 Set)

Watercolor painting has the reputation of being quite demanding; it is more accurate to say that watercolor techniques are unique to watercolor. Unlike oil or acrylic painting, where the paints essentially stay where they are put and dry more or less in the form they are applied, water is an active and complex partner in the watercolor painting process, changing both the absorbency and shape of the paper when it is wet and the outlines and appearance of the paint as it dries.
This All In One set for Watercolor is unique and essential for artist's of many talents.

I am not very artistic and my painting always was terrible. I haven't painted for more than 20 years, but doubt I could do any better than a 5 year old even now. Always wished I could though.
