PROMOTE YOUR ART ONLINE, tips tricks and ideas.

Ranked #20,806 in Arts & Design, #503,640 overall

So you are and artist. Now sell your stuff, promote and it easily online!

Many artists have to seek gallery representation. That is fine and very useful in order to understand how the industry works, if you want to have your work's value put in perspective with the current trends, to connect with other artist communities and travel!

But there is also the very useful and readily available internet, and the only thing you need is to have a good digital camera, your computer and good lighting to get started on promoting yourself online.

CONNECT AND SHARE

First step, let the world what your art is about.

If you want to start with something nice and simple, I strongly recommend you get your own BLOG, as they are very useful tools for giving feedback on your progress, your interests, tools and processes you're into and best of all: they're free!.

My favorite so far is WORDPRESS, but here's a list of other BLOG SITES worth looking into:

Blogger.com
Livejournal.com
Freewebs.com
Ciberblog.com
Blogtotal.com

And many other community websites like myspace and google also have integrated blogs into their pages, as they have become a building base for community networking.

If you have already been working online with communities, networking and scouting out the virtual art scene, then you are ready to start selling.
I will list some useful websites.

ART PROMOTION WEBSITES:

EBSQ : Is a self-promotion website. When you subcribe to it, you are given a comfortable space for your images, bio and description. A store is linked to your profile in case someone is interested in acquiring one (or more) of your pieces.

EBAY: Of course, EBAY is one of the well-known methods of selling almost everything. Hey, if a cheese sandwich can make it to the hundreds, then why not give it a try?

THE SAATCHI GALLERY: One of the best well-kept secrets among artists. I discovered it once after an Art History lecture when a professor mentioned it.
Saatchi has been one of the most well-known art collectors in the Contemporary Art world.

FOR CRAFTIER ARTISTS

ETSY.COM is a very good choice for illustrators, painters and other types of crafters who are looking for a website to show and sell.
