Downloading, installing and registering ArtRage should be simple - download, enter your key, and start painting!

Why Do I Want My Registration Key?
What's it good for?
The second function of the code is to allow you to RE-install ArtRage, or download the Mac (or Windows) version if you switch from one to the other.
The third advantage in having a registration code is the discount on upgrading from ArtRage 2.5 to ArtRage Studio and Studio Pro (And upgrading from Studio to Studio Pro).

Using your Registration Key to get a discounted upgrade
The Old Version
ArtRage 2.5 is $20 downloaded from the site and the box set varies - it used to be $50, but has been wavering between $20-$40.
The Free version is, obviously, free, as is the Demo version. Both are aso downloaded from the site.
Buying ArtRage 3 New
ArtRage Studio: $40.
ArtRage Studio Pro: $80.

Can I upgrade from Studio to Studio Pro?
Yes. There will be upgrade pricing from ArtRage Studio to ArtRage Studio Pro. But you wont need it because when you see the full feature set of ArtRage Studio Pro you'll just get that one straight away anyway. from AndyRage
Switching from ArtRage Studio to Studio Pro: $45
Can I keep my old version as well as the new version?
Yes, and they will work quite happily on the same computer. BUT if you use your current registration to update, you can't use that registration key to upgrade from ArtRage 2.5 again.
Your original copy of 2 will not stop working and can be run on the same machine. Our intention here is to make it clear that your key is non transferrable, so you can't upgrade to 3 then pass on the 2 key to another user, as that key has already been registered to you and cannot be used to upgrade again.
Reinstalling ArtRage
Or Switching from Windows to Mac
Deleted an important file, or bought a new computer, and ArtRage doesn't work? (...I've done this to myself at least three times now >.> ) Or want to reinstall it on a new computer? Easy!- Go find that registration code again,
- download the full version again if there's something wrong with yours and start again.
NOTE! To download a new installer for your ArtRage software you need to register a user account in the Member's area
You can use your existing ArtRage license to download the Mac version using the Member Area. If you register an account and register your key, you can then select the download link for that key on the My Product page and you will get OSX as an option as well as Windows.
Where's the registration code?
Well, if you didn't save it somewhere it will be:
In the purchase email (if you bought it online) or check Kagi's FAQ to find your order details.
In the Members area on the site (if you registered and set up an account)
The Deluxe Edition - and its registration - is handled by Smith Micro and/or the vendor you bought it from.
If it came as part of a Wacom graphics tablet package, the registration key should be printed on the back of the CD sleeve. Otherwise, contact Wacom ( and go to your local site )

How to find the ArtRage license code after you have installed it
Windows XP
Go to Start, Run
Type in regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Click on SOFTWARE
Find AMBIENT DESIGN
Find ArtRage 2 and click on it
In drop down box find Settings
In settings you will find your ID (or key)
Write it down, and DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING. Those are the registry files!

The same as above, but under HKEY_CURRENT_USER not HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

NB: If you install ArtRage on a limited access user account (eg. not adminstrator) you may not have permission to write to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE section of the registry. If this is the case, ArtRage uses the HKEY_CURRENT_USER section and writes its data out to the Software section there.

How To Buy and Register ArtRage
For the First Time
You have several options to try, buy, and gift ArtRage.
(Ambient Design also offers educational licensing and read about how to give ArtRage 3 for Christmas.
Option One
1. Download the Free Edition (see the module above) or the Studio Pro Demo
2. Go to step 8 below.
Be aware that almost ALL the 'free ArtRage downloads' on the web, of which there are many, are of the free version. This is often not stated. If it claims to be the full version, they are either wrong, or it is illegal.
Option Two
Pay for the Full Edition. Any of 2.5, Studio or Studio Pro
The Full Edition of ArtRage is a downloadable program.
1. Go to the ArtRage Purchase Page on the website
2. Choose Mac OSX or Windows
3. Pay! (Paypal, Credit card, cash, check, money order, wire transfer or purchase order)
Payments go through the Kagi website
4. You will have to enter an email address
5. Kagi sends you a receipt with a 20-digit long code of letters/numbers, which is your registration key. Do not, ever, ever lose this email - or rather, the code.
6. Make sure you have downloaded the Full Edition
7. Start it up, and enter the registration key.
8. Paint me something, put it up on DeviantART and send me a link via any of these sites so I can add it to the artists on DeviantART collection
If you wish to buy this as a gift: Simply put the intended recipient's email in when paying, or forward the registration code on to them. Or buy them the Deluxe Edition below.

Option Three
Pay for the ArtRage 2.5 Deluxe Edition Cost: see below, varies from $30-40 US, and approx. $10 shipping
This includes extra stencils, reference images, tutorials and painting videos, as well as coming in an actual box (very nice if it's as a gift) and works on both Mac OSX and Windows - even better if you want that extra flexibility in the future, have one of each or don't know what the recipient would want to use it on.
1. Get the Deluxe Edition below (be aware that shipping charges will apply).
2. Repeat 7 and 8 above.
Possible Payment Issues
Paypal and Problems and Weird Things That Might Happen
1. I didn't get the expected $25 discount.Please contact us at support@artrage.com, we are processing partial refunds for users who receive the wrong discount.
2. I can't log in to the ArtRage Member Area.
Firstly, make sure you have registered. If the system says it can't find your email address then you probably haven't. The Member Area and Forum currently both require registration, registering for one does not register you for the other.

If you receive password errors when trying to log in, use the Lost Password button to retrieve your password. If you still have problems logging in please let us know at support@artrage.com, some users may have difficulties if their original registered email address contains some characters or capital letters. We are currently looking in to a solution for this.
3. When I try to purchase I get a failure due to a $0 total value.
If you are trying to purchase but having a problem after you enter your coupon and click to finalise your purchase, receiving an error indicating that the purchase is below the minimum amount and indicating a $0 total cost, you may need to turn cookies on for the store. Please clear your browser cache, activate cookies and try again, that should solve the problem.

Other Points - paying and claiming your discount
The code for the discount is entered at the bottom on the very last page, before paying. Do NOT worry, unless you get to the credit card page and it's still showing the full price.
Paypal and other options
If you're paying in something other than US dollars, Paypal may not appear as an option - as well as some credit cards and other payment options. Just change the currency and refresh to get the new choices.
What If I want to register it for a school?

ArtRage is probably the easiest art program you can find, and a lot more fun for kids than MSPaint. You can simply use the Free Version or you can contact the Rage Team to arrange for special bulk deals at artrageschools@artrage.com
In New Zealand
Ambient Design offered $1 (plus GST) per computer license for New Zealand Schools with ArtRage 2.5
Everywhere else
Varies with the complexity of arranging things, so you'll have to talk to them directly. But they DO offer educational deals outside of NZ
ArtRage 3
Exactly how much they will be licensing ArtRage Studio and Studio Pro for (although the latter is probably too advanced for school children and therefore not worth paying for), is not yet decided. However they will continue to offer ArtRage 2.5, and DO intend to keep working with schools - the computer specifications were deliberately kept down in the upgrade, so as to make it usable on low budget school computers (in fact, it runs better than 2.5). Contact them via the email above, and ask.
And then you can get the kids making pictures, maybe even making cards to sell... branch out into photo editing and using the internet!

- Very nice lens. Although I don't know anything about registering, I always like to look at your lenses for your terrific art. If others can make lenses close to yours by using ArtRage than I would certainly go for it.
