The Art of Renting or Leasing
All pieces valued over $500 are available for rent or lease. Fees vary according to value, number of pieces rented or leased, and length of rental or lease. Transportation costs are the responsibility of lessee. While insurance is managed by YupikMask, lessee is responsible for insurance costs. Lease programs start as low as $30 per month. Custom rental schedules are available for special one-time or short-term events.
If you've had your eye on a large art piece but find you don't have the capital to buy, have a short-term need for art, or want the art but don't want to commit to one piece, now is the perfect time for you to consider renting or leasing as an option.
Reasons to consider rental or leasing of fine art over purchase:
~ Acquire fine art without large up-front capital outlay
~ Low monthly rental/lease payments are a tax deductible business expense
~ Enhance corporate or personal image
~ Improve corporate / personal environment and company morale
~ No commitment required to any work of art. Art can be changed frequently
~ Wide range of term options
~ Easy buy-out options available

Is leasing or renting art for you?
Yes!
Here are some examples of people who might enter into a rental or lease agreement:~ For display at a conference or convention
~ For use on a movie set
~ For use in a corporate office
~ For use in a public setting (public building, medical offices, hospital)
~ For private use for those who are interested in fine art but do not have the large capital outlay
~ For virtually any reason
Art from a SWAIA Fellowship Recipient
2009 award received
The purpose of the SWAIA Fellowship Program is to help emerging and established American Indian artists reach the next level by providing funds to help advance their talents, assist with promotion, building a portfolio, further their professional development, and more. For over 20 years, SWAIA has awarded more than 130 fellowships to select Native American artists based on their achievement of excellence in the arts. The current fellowship award is $5,000. In 2008, SWAIA® awarded fellowships to six talented artists.
Phillip's expansion plans include the purchase of welding equipment that will allow him to begin producing large outdoor metal sculptures. "Winning this highly coveted Fellowship is one of the most exciting things to happen to me as an artist. To win this award is a statement of where I've come as a professional artist and I'm thankful to the SWAIA selection committee for giving me this recognition," said Phillip.
Phillip's artistic focus has been on mixed media sculptures and prints that are contemporary renditions of traditional Yup'ik ceremonial masks. He has participated in shows at the Smithsonian, the Eiteljorg, and the Heard Museums, and was a part of the Changing Hands 2: Art Without Reservation national museum tour. His work has been collected privately and by museums, including the Portland Art Museum and the Hallie Ford Museum. He makes his home in Eastern Oregon.

Mixed Media: These complex composite masks are each made with 12 pieces of pottery, 126 pieces of porcelain, 35 wild turkey feathers, 71 handmade red glass beads (made by the artist), and hand bent wood frames of red oak. Being winter wind masks, they are designed to float and have custom hangars.
The value of the Northwind Masks is $30,000. Imagine having these stunning masks installed in your home, office, hotel, restaurant, casino or other location for a fraction of their cost under our lease program.

Renting or leasing art
vs. buying art
What you get when you purchase:~ You pay possibly thousands of dollars in one large amount up front and you own the art for life
~ You get to call it your own
~ You're the envy of friends, family, neighbors, peers, competitors, co-workers, etc.
~ If you change your mind or you want something more, you still own the piece you purchased, and you have to buy a new one
~ You have to have expendable income in order to be able to afford to buy fine art
~ It is a family and/or business asset
What you get when you lease or rent:
~ Deduct your payments as a business expense!
~ No large expense. You get to save your money for other things
~ You're the envy of friends, family, neighbors, peers, competitors, co-workers, etc.
~ If you change your mind, you get to switch out the art at a very low price
~ You don't have to have wealth to surround yourself with art and enhance your image
~ You can have art for a one-time event without a large cash outlay or commitment
The end result with both options:
You have beautiful art in your presence!

Renting and Leasing Term Options
1 month, 2 month, 3 month, 4. Lease my art a year or more
Short term: You might have one special event coming up that requires a perfect piece of art be on display, so buying a piece doesn't make sense. We'll work with you to make sure you have the perfect statement piece n the size you want, all under a contract that works exactly to your specifications. Please note: rental fees are generally based as a percentage of the value of the art. However, there is a minimum charge of $50 for special short-term events, plus set-up, insurance, and and transportation costs.
1 - 6 Month Rental: Want to rent something on a month-to-month basis without entering into a lease contract? We'll work with you on that as well. Note: prices are generally higher for 1 - 6 month rental contracts than they are for longer-term contracts and leases. Fees will be a percentage of the value of the art, plus a set-up fee, insurance, and transportation costs.
6 - 12 Month Rental: Still interested in renting, but want to sign a contract to rent over a longer term? We'll make sure that you have the piece for the period of time you choose, and at a lower percentage rate than you would get under a shorter term contract. Again, fees will be a percentage of the value of the art, plus a set-up fee, insurance, and transportation costs.
Under rental contracts, a fair percentage of the rental payments will be applied toward purchase if the renter decides to buy the art they are renting.
Lease: Leases are entered into for those who are interested in a longer-term commitment, and who may want to have their lease payments applied to purchase or buy-out at any time. Monthly fees are a percentage of the value of the art, but at a lower rate. Fees include set-up, insurance, and transportation costs.
Under lease options, all lease payments will be applied to the total value of the art.
Multiple pieces and/or locations: Special contracts are available for clients wishing to lease or rent multiple pieces in one location or various locations. Please inquire with YupikMask for details on leasing or renting under this option.
Rotation option: Lessees under a lease contract are provided a rotation option for a set fee. Rotation set-up fees are based on value of art and frequency of rotation.
**Important Notes**
Insurance: From the moment of installation until the moment the art is back in our possession, the lessee is responsible for insurance costs. Payment for any damage, changes, adjustments, etc. will be charged to the lessee.
All lessees or renters must be approved by YupikMask: Alaskan Native Fine Art representatives. This includes credit checks and references.
