Rewards4life Please tell us how long you've been an artist and who/what was your first inspiration?

PeppersPolishMafia I started drawing when I was very young. Started painting in my late teens. My inspiration is my mother. As a child I recall most mornings we would wake to mum preparing her canvas and oils. I was always inspired by her ease to placing a vision she had onto a canvas. Most often I would find myself standing in front of her finished product with total amazement! Her encouragement for her 6 children was always with great wise comments. Each comment always had praise and guidance. I often would draw or paint something that was very different from my mother's beautiful paintings. I would say "I just can't do it right". She would always remind me that art is in everyone, each person having his or her own style. It's doing it that matters.

Rewards4life During your time as an artist do you think that your creations and ideas have progressed with you or have you always had the same vision?

PeppersPolishMafia Everything I do is always evolving and changing. I do many different forms of art. I really enjoy acrylic painting. Though I must admit, I have not touched a brush in a few months. I am enjoying making graphic designs right now. Perhaps that has been more challenging & changing then any art I do. It's something when I look back and see what I thought was really great to be so different from what I am doing now. I can say each time I look back I realize I had learned so much more of the techniques in graphic designing. In art no matter what form I try to do something new to learn from.

Rewards4life Have you got any creative tips for other artists and people who would like to start creating their own original images?

PeppersPolishMafia As Mum would say... It's doing it that matters. With graphic designing, it's a different form of art and a challenge. Unlike painting you can go in and undo any mistakes you make! Another wise comment my mother will say to me, "What you think is a mistake may be a masterpiece to someone else." I have always believed everyone is an artist. I have many friends that will say they wish they could draw or paint. They can. Really! The minute I hear that, I do all I can do to make them take out a paper and pen and draw. No matter how odd it may be in their mind, it is drawing. So many people would be as surprised as to the response they would get from others that would enjoy something they do artistic. Doodle if you have to! Be Original and Unique.

I read once, to be an artist all you have to do is believe. To prove this the example take a simple drawing you like, place it upside down, get out a pen and paper and start drawing what you see. Keeping this drawing upside down while you try to draw may seem odd and impossible but. Try it! When you are done flip you're drawing over to see what you have done. 99 % of the time you will find you did a pretty good job! The reason you did not think you could do it was because you did not believe you could, and you did not tap in on your artistic part of your brain. When you had to draw this upside down you accomplished 2 things ~ you tapped in on your ability to draw and you found the treasure map of being an artist in your brain! It may not be perfect and just like what you were trying to draw, but it is your style and it is sure to be unique! All Art is an image we can preserve in a painting, drawing and photography and crafts.

PeppersPolishMafia I display and sell my art on zazzle.com- PeppersPolishMafia store. I also sell my art in our small business. We live in a town that is a Tourist / Artist community! I also go to art shows! I do limit where I sell online as I feel it is important to be committed to trusting professional stores. I am working on CrAzY dolls I will be selling on etsy.com soon!

"This is a design I have done for our local animal shelter. As a Banner asking for assistance in building a fence. A road has been paved right in front of the shelter. Traffic will be heavy as this is an easy access road. These animals could use a fence! I made a banner for the shelter to place on the lawn of the shelter. Any purchase proceeds will go directly to Humane Society of Knox http://www.humanesocietyofknoxcounty.org/ The love for animals is always one of our families primary concerns.
