Microbreweries, pubs and taprooms! Asheville is making a name for itself when it comes to breweries. Besides the great breweries, we have blogs on beer, tours to the breweries, a store rated world's second best beer store and plenty of great pubs and restaurants that serve our fine beer!

Pisgah Brewing Company. Pisgah specializes in brewing hand crafted certified organic beer.

Highland Brewing Company. Highland Brewing Company brews the finest and freshest ales in the Southeast. For more than a decade, they have produced an impressive array of ales, from the best-selling Gaelic to the popular winter seasonal, Cold Mountain Ale.

Asheville Pizza and Brewing. Grab a beer and catch a flick!

Green Man Brewing. Served at Jack of the Wood. Jack of the Wood is offering up some of the best and most unique microbrews in the region, including beer from their very own, nearby brewing facility.

April 12: Highland Brewing Co. just released Cattail Peak an Organic wheat beer.
Februrary 28: Highland has released their seasonal Shining Rock Lager.
Februrary 28: A great website to check out, Know Your Brewer.com has an interview with Drew Barton of French Broad Brewery. Also a short article about all our great breweries and the ones soon to open.
Februrary 23: The Asheville Brewers Alliance is organizing as a nonprofit to promote Asheville-made beer, said Mike Rangel, co-owner of Asheville Pizza and Brewing. Other breweries that have already joined include Highland, Green Man, Wedge, French Broad and the not-yet-open Craggie. Membership will be limited to commercial breweries based in Asheville, which already has a nationally recognized reputation for craft beer. The new Lobster Trap brewery and the upcoming Lexington Avenue Brewery will also be eligible to join.
Februrary 13: Check out the great local artists on display at the Pisgah Brewery tasting room.
Februrary 13: The Lobster Trap is brewing their very own house brews! Add another brewery to the Asheville scene!
December 19: Look for the LAB (Lexington Avenue Brewery) to opens it's doors in April. The Beer Guy, Tony Kiss has the article here.
December 19: Highland Brewing is releasing Black Mountain Bitter. The beer will be released during the week of January 12. An organic beer, Black Mountain Bitter is a style of Pale Ale.
December 18:Pisgah Brewing is brewing up some Pilsner!
December 15:Designing Paws has a great little blog about loving the Asheville Breweries.
December 14: A great article in the Asheville Citizen-Times about Asheville's Bruisin' Ales beer store.
December 11: A little late on this one I know but good news anyway. Asheville Pizza and Brewing is bottling their Ninja Porter and Old School Pale. French Broad Brewing Co is letting them share their bottler.
December 10: Did you know that Pisgah Brewing is open to the public every Tuesday through Friday starting at 2pm? Stop in and taste the great Pisgah brews!
December 1: Better catch Highland Brewings' Cold Mountain before its gone!
October 24: Pisgah Brewing has released 3 new beers. The newest, Dancing Hobo, is 13 percent alcohol. Pisgah is keeping most of it at their brewery but it will be available at local taprooms. October 17: Mark your calendars! The Asheville Downtown Association is hosting Flight Night on November 20. Held at Fiore;'s in downtown Asheville, locally brewed beers will be paired with food from local restaurants.
October 13: Congrats to Highland Brewing Company and their Black Mocha Stout for their silver medal in the American Stout category at the Great American Beer Festival in Colorado.
October 7:Update on Craggy Brewing.
Should be open by spring of next year but if you want to try some of their brews, they are offering them up on October 14th from 5:30-11:30. The brewery is located at 197 Hilliard Street in downtown, between Asheland and Coxe avenues. Craggy is brewing beers with a lower alcohol content. They are also brewing up some pretty interesting beers, A strawberry porter, a maple blueberry porter, an India pumpkin ale and a civil war era recipe beer with molasses and pine needles.
August 8: On August 29, Bruisin Ales is hosting Dinner at the Ballpark: Ommegang. This casual pre-game dinner will feature five courses of "upscale" ballpark food. Includes a FREE Ommegang ballcap and of course admission to the game.
August 8: Asheville Pizza and Brew have now renamed their Pisgah Pale Ale to Old School Ale thus ending the conflict of names with Pisgah Brewing Co.
June 27: The Thirsty Monk on Commerce St. is expanding upstairs. The Pinthouse will feature rotating American craft beers. They are shooting for a July 4th opening.
June 21: There will be another micro-brewery by the end of the year. The new Craggy Brewing will open on Hilliard Avenue.
June 21: We have two local breweries both selling a beer called Pisgah Pale Ale. Pisgah Pale, made by Pisgah Brewing Co. in Black Mountain and Pisgah Pale made by Asheville Pizza and Brewing Co. which they have brought back after shelving it a few years ago. Lets see how this turns out...
