Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga yoga is a popular form of yoga that is a sytem developed and taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. It consists of a fixed set of postures or asanas which are practiced with synchronised breath.
The result is you'll produce intense heat during the process and get really purified after each class. I often leave the class feeling very bright and clear in mind. :)
Quote from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois :
"Yoga is 99 percent practice and 1 percent theory."

Meaning Of Ashtanga Yoga
The Eight Limbs
Ashtanga yoga is not just another form of exercise!
It is a teaching recorded and passed down from an ancient manuscript ( Yoga Korunta ).
Patanjali, one of the great sage who wrote the Yoga Sutras, outlined eight liimbs of yoga which literally translate to "Ashtanga Yoga".
1. Yama ( universal commandments or moral codes )
2. Niyama ( self purification by discipline or study )
3. Asana ( postures )
4. Pranayama ( breath through control )
5. Pratyahara ( control of senses )
6. Dharana ( concentration & focus of mind )
7. Dhyana ( meditation )
8. Samadhi ( being one with universe through meditation, super consciousness )
Benefits Of Ashtanga Yoga
Clear focused mind. Light body. Detoxifying. Build strength and flexibility...and improves your abs or core plenty!
Personally everytime I stepped out of an ashtanga yoga class, i see and think very much clearer! Try and let me know what are the effects!
There are altogether 6 series in the complete set.
