What is .Asia Domain?

.asia domain name
The .Asia top-level domain (TLD) is an ICANN-sponsored domain extension that represents the Asia-Pacific region. A .asia domain gives you exposure to the region as a whole, as opposed to individual countries, such as a .jp or .cn extension. This is particularly useful for companies that conduct business in different Asian countries, because securing the .Asia domain gives you regional recognition, makes it easier to manage your Web presence, and increases your exposure to the growing number of Internet users in the Asia-Pacific region.

If you or one of your contacts lives in the Asia-Pacific region, you can register a .asia domain name. For more information about the countries that make up the Asia-Pacific region, see Which countries are in the Asia-Pacific region?.

To register a .Asia domain, pay the registration fee, based on the number of years for which you want to register your domain. The minimum registration is one year, and the maximum registration is 10 years.

There are no restrictions for the content you can place on your .Asia Web pages.

Asia Encounters the Internet

Asia.com:
Asia Encounters the Internet

The Internet is developing quicker in Asia than in any other region of the world. This book is the first comprehensive analysis of the information society in an Asian context and the impact of these technologies in Asia. These impacts are inevitably uneven and conditioned by issues of telecommunications infrastructure, government politics, cultural and social values and economic realities. The combination of original research, theoretical innovation and detailed case studies make this an important book for scholars and students in Asian studies, media studies, communication studies and sociology.

Hello Tracy, Only legal entities within the Pan-Asia and Asia-Pacific region (defined by ICANN as Asia/Australia/Pacific region) can register names under .ASIA TLD. Russia would have the same restrictions as the other countries, where they would have to have a contact in one of the listed countries. But she should check with a local regisar. The ICANN Accredited Registrar at this time for Russia is "Web Names ru." Their website url is:http://www.webnames.ru/

Thank you for your compliments, I hope the link helps. Please feel free to contact me any time.
