Life and career:
Nishino studied English from an early age, and went to America twice. She became interested in various genres of music, including hip-hop, R&B and reggae, but she also enjoyed Japanese literature, and started singing Japanese folk songs. Her dream of becoming a singer started in junior high school. When she was 16, her mother secretly sent a demo tape of hers to the Miss Phoenix Audition, and she was rated the top singer entrant out of approximately 40,000 applicants. Before his debut, in November 2007, Shota sang in English on amateur night at the Apollo Theater. He was called a one in a million soul singer by a local newspaper in New York. The second time he performed at the Apollo Theater was November 19, 2008. He sang the song "Sukiyaki" by Kyu Sakamoto in Japanese, where he was given a standing ovation from an audience of fifteen hundred people. In September 2003, Yamashita and eight other boys from Johnny's Juniors were chosen to form the group NEWS. NEWS made its formal debut on May 12, 2004. Yamashita was often referred to as the leader of NEWS but members of the group, including Yamashita himself, have stated at times that he was not the de facto leader.
In October 2005, Yamashita and Kazuya Kamenashi from KAT-TUN formed the temporary unit Shuuji to Akira (Shuuji and Akira) to promote their television show Nobuta o Produce which also starred Maki Horikita. (Shuuji and Akira are the characters they portray in the drama.) They also released a single, "Seishun Amigo", under the name Shuuji to Akira, which sold over a million copies in four weeks. "Seishun Amigo" topped the Oricon Yearly Single Rankings for 2005.
On October 7, 2011, Johnny & Associates announced that Yamashita and Nishikido Ryo were no longer members of NEWS, and Yamashita would henceforth be concentrating on his solo projects.Yamashita later published a message through the Johnny's web (Jweb) subscription service stating that this was a decision taken after much consideration on his part, and he was grateful to the members of NEWS for being understanding.

Biography:
Born in Kobe on May 24, 1990, Yuya Matsushita was raised by his mother and grandmother. As a sixth grader in 2002, Matsushita decided to pursue a career in music, enrolling in Caless Vocal & Dance School. Around 9th grade, despite clashing with his mother regarding his future plans, a visit to New York City strengthened his determination to become an artist. He met with producer Jin Nakamura who presented him with the song "foolish foolish". The filming for the single also took place in New York, after being signed to Epic Records.
In 2009, Yuya Matsushita had his stage debut as Sebastian Michaelis in the Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) Musical. His single Trust Me was used as the first ending theme in the Durarara!! anime, and peaked at 10th in the weekly Oricon charts.
In 2010, Matsushita's single "Bird" was used as the ending theme for the second season of the Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) anime.
In 2011, his single "Paradise" was used as the theme song for the drama Quartet, in which he also starred. He was announced as the first guest for MusicFest at FanimeCon in 2011.-wiki
