They are such cute bears, I love that white spot on the chest.
Bear farming is a real bummer.

I enjoyed reading your lens. I hope one day these bears won't be abused by humans. We must learn to live near these beautiful animals, and let them to live in their territories.Blessed!

Bile milking? Shame! It must be stopped. They must find out alternative medicine.

That's one of the things that makes bile farming so bad, there are many herbs, such as coptis or rhubarb, that can be used as alternatives for bear bile. There is just no reason for this abuse of bears!

Is this bear what the Tibetans refer to as the "yeti?" I met a Tibetan this weekend who tells me there are real, and like a bear. Yeti translates to something like "rocky bear."
  • Frankster Sep 15, 2010 @ 10:31 am | delete
According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeti) Yeti translates to "rocky" or "rocky place.'" They say the scientific community considers Yeti a legend. Thank you for visiting my lens. Bear hugs, Frankster

Let's keep spreading the word about bile farming and getting involved in actions to save the bears. It's the only way this vile practice will end. Ursa Freedom Project is a global action network to help dismantle the bear bile industry. Please join the efforts at UFP and become another voice for the moon bears -- http://ursafreedomproject.ning.com!

I'd heard about Moon Bears. Did not know they were Asiatic Black Bears. It is shameful what the chinese and Koreans do to the bears in their care! Keep up the good works for animals, Frankster. 5 stars and favorite.
