Come for a drink, lunch, dinner, the motor racing or stay for a spa weekend with gastronomic delights.
Bolderberg is a lovely village of 3,000 people in Belgian Limburg surrounded by woodland and famous for its motor racing track Circuit Terlaemen. Also known as Circuit Zolder, this was the home of the Belgian F1 until 1983 when it was moved to Spa Francorchamps. However, the track is used on a regular basis for many famous international championships as well as track days, drifting and private lessons.
Bolderberg also receives many visitors to Domein Bovy, a beautiful wooded area with two restaurants and outdoor cobbled terraces, many marked out walks, a rose garden, children's animals, fishing ponds and the new Kabouterbos which is a delightful trail through the trees visting the "Kabouters" - dwarfs, the wicked witch and Snow White (Sneeuwitje) in a glass casket waiting for her prince. My children love it, especially as it ends at another cafe with outdoor play area and a huge bouncy castle. The owner, Aniek, is very friendly.
Pret-A-Gouter is a new French/Belgian fine cuisine restaurant with an excellent reputation. We also have De Kluis, a charming 3* hotel with wonderful food. Just a cup of coffee is an experience. On the first Sunday of each month De Kluis offers a brunch which starts at 10am with a welcoming drink followed by a walk in the woods up to the historic De Kluis building and then a delicious buffet. Some of the brunches follow a theme such as Easter, Halloween, Christmas. Taverne St Job is a friendly cafe with a children's play area, bouncy castle and live music and karaoke two nights a week.
Other places to eat and drink in Bolderberg are Hotel Savarin, Hotel De Soete Wey, Gennaro for Pizzas & Pastas where I recommend the Antipasti and finish your meal with a Zambuca nbsp;
Come and visit Bolderberg for an hour to savour a beer in Domein Bovy, or lunch in De Kluis, stay overnight and experience a gastronomic delight at Pret-A-Gouter, or the weekend if you like motor racing. Just check the calendar.
There are spa facilities at some of the hotels and I recommend EOS beauty salon. If you want to relax, I can offer you deep relaxation through hypnosis. Maybe you have an unwanted habit or illness I can help you overcome? Just see me at http://www.EnglishHypnotherapistBelgium.com
Books on Belgian food, beer and chocolate
- Yummy, yummy in your tummy
Here are some book suggestions available from Amazon.co.uk
In terms of Belgian beer books, Michael Jackson's is the authority followed by Tim Webb's book which lists the beers by town or region so they are easy to find.

The chocolates are legendary due to the higher content of cream and butter. Godiva and Neuhaus offer the most decadent range in exquisite packaging but for everyday enjoyment, try Leonidas or just a bar of Cote d'Or, available in just about every flavour.

Circuit Terlaemen - Fietst naar Congo
These Belgians are cycling mad!
This is always a popular family event held on an African theme with African drumming, stalls and the proverbial bouncy castle and go-karts to amuse the kids. We were also treated to a display of birds of prey.
The money raised from this event helps to support a children's hospital in Penzi, Bandundu province in the Congo. In 2006 they earned 12,500 %u20AC which started the building of a mother and child care unit and renovation of the maternity unit. The proceeds from 2007 will go towards costs of doctors in the hospital and surrounding areas.
Basis School Bolderberg
Annual schoolfeest on Sunday 17 June 2007
All the children, parents and grandparents came together for an end of year celebration. The children entertained us with their singing and dancing then the teachers changed into waiters and waitresses running around with trays of delicious Belgian beers while the children played on the merry-go-round, bouncy castle, playground and fairground attractions.
Belgium is a small country with a small population (10 million)
Belgium has a fascinating history, is home to the European Commission, European Parliament, NATO and Shape. Many call it a surreal country. The people are proud but not boastful. People live well and constantly refer to the linguistic divide (Flemish, French and German so English is often used in business).
