Ask Patty - Automotive Advice for Women: Hillary Clinton Runs for President Supporting Non Traditional Careers for Women
Interesting to me is that Hillary Clinton supports programs for non-traditional careers for women. She has worked to expand opportunities for women to enter non-traditional occupations, such as automotive technician, carpenter, electrician, or police officer. Women are still significantly underrepresented in these fields, yet these jobs often pay very well and include benefits like health insurance and pensions. She has worked to improve the federal vocational education program by providing incentives for states to help girls and women enter and succeed in non-traditional fields. She also introduced a Senate Resolution honoring women in the trades.

Pink Products Promote Breast Cancer Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so we've compiled a collection of pink products meant to help us car gals raise awareness of breast cancer. Many of these companies also donate a portion of their profits to raising breast cancer awareness as well. This is just a small sampling of the many pink products out there; if you've found something really spectacular that you want to share to help raise awareness of breast cancer, let us know by submitting it to our online form and we'll be sure to pass the info along here at askpatty.com. I tried to keep it directly related to CAR products, but as I was searching, I found lots of pink products that we could wear or use in our day-to-day lives to raise awareness. I hope you'll find something you like as well.

We had to break up our regularly scheduled posts to announce the exciting news that Ask Patty was featured on MSN Money today! AskPatty.Com Inc. has certified 13 Crown dealerships across the country, including the one in St. Petersburg/Clearwater.
CBS Boston "Female Friendly' Car Dealerships
(CBS4) BOSTON When it comes to buying a car, it's usually a man's world, but that's changing. Car dealers are now becoming more female friendly.

"Women represent more than 50 percent of all new car buyers in the U.S.," said Jody Devere of AskPatty.com. "Women also influence 85 percent of all automotive purchases."

Yet according to at least one study, women are routinely quoted higher prices for cars than men. And when it comes to negotiating the deal, or even just looking, many women still feel uncomfortable about the way they're treated.

"There was a guy. He didn't even introduce himself. And he was like boom, boom, boom," said car buyer Cristy Gonzalez.
FreshAlloy: Cars and women - women and cars
Yes, we all know of the horrors of buying a new car. We know that once you park your car and step onto the dealership lot, you will be on the defensive against every known sales trick in the book. And if you're lucky to survive the initial onslaught, actually find the car you want, and think you got a ?great deal' ? because the salesperson said so ? you always leave and wonder if you really did.

How Not to Get Ripped Off on Auto Repairs!
Scams of disreputable service centers contain one or both of two elements: (1) Charging you for work that was never done, or (2) Convincing you of the need for unnecessary and often overpriced repairs. Here are four different types of scams you could run into and ways to avoid them:

With all the many questions, stories and conversations with women I enjoy as president of Ask Patty, I wanted to share with you how very PASSIONATE I have found women to be about their cars. It may seem remarkable to some just how much women love cars and enjoy talking about them, worrying about them and taking care of them! Yes, woman give cars pet names, decorate them, personalize them and fuss over them, baby them and when they break ...hate them!

How Do Dealerships Become AskPatty Female Friendly Certified?

Interview With Jody DeVere President AskPatty.com
This publication has, for years, embraced the need for dealers to become more attuned to and supportive of the needs of women buyers. This makes good business sense: 51 percent of women live without a spouse and women head 30 percent of all U.S. households. Indeed, women account for 85 percent of all consumer purchases and they purchase 65 percent of the new cars purchased in this country.

But Jody DeVere, president of AskPatty.com, says despite this buying power, too many dealerships treat women buyers differently than they do men. Some of those reasons are that women, historically as a group, have been less knowledgeable of automobiles and their systems than have men. AskPatty.com is changing that. We talked to DeVere recently to learn how AskPatty.com is reshaping the women car-buyer landscape.
