My babes. . .

Mo and Molly, the best doggies in the world

I have always owned rescue/shelter doggies and they have been the greatest! I have also lost doggies due to old age and was so devastated by the loss that as an artist, I started doing angel doggie memorial watercolors. You can visit my website: http://www.angeldoggie.com/ if you want to see what Mo and Molly's mommie does.

Now, on to my babes, Mo and Molly. (The picture is of the babes when they were sweet little puppies). My husband, Mike, and I had lost our two doggies. They had been abandonded at his school and we immediately adopted the pups. We had them for about 11 years and they both passed on within a few months of each other. Lots of tears and lots of Kleenex!

Well, I just couldn't go more than a couple of months without doggie kisses, tail wags, and doggie snuggles in bed at night, so we went to the Tri-Valley Animal Rescue group adoption center at the Pleasanton, CA farmer's market. And lo and behold, they had puppies! I saw little Mo's face and it was LOVE at first sight! I had to take him home! I picked up his little sister and she immediately fell asleep in my arms. Well, that was IT! These were my new babes!

These cute little babes had been abandonded, left in a gunny sack outside a feed store in Modesto, CA on a rainy cold new year's eve. Fortunately, TVAR was called and they came and rescued them and foster-mom'ed them till they could be adopted out to forever homes.

My boy Mo now weighs in at 94 lbs. and Molly is 88 lbs.! And they both sleep with us at night! Yup, they take their half out of the middle of the bed. Both my hubbie and I are trained to sleep at the edge of the bed and even when we are on vacation, I am not comfortable unless clinging to the edge of the bed and I really miss the babes not being there.

A big THANK YOU to all animal rescue groups!

My doggies and my art!

My Art Pages and Animal Rescue Groups

Animal Rescue Group Donations

I do watercolor pet portraits and since I've retired, I have been donating art to animal rescue groups. I have done pet portraits for: Happy Tails, Sacramento, CA; Napa Humane, Napa, CA; Guide Dogs for the Blind; San Francisco SPCA Bark & Whine Ball; Tri-Valley Animal Rescue, Pleasanton, CA; In Defense of Animals, San Rafael, CA; Best Friends Animal Society, Utah; Operation Doggie Drop (a one time event in Los Angeles to help Katrina doggies); and the Performing Animal Welfare Society in Galt and San Andreas, CA.
Galen's Angeldoggie Site
This is my original website. After loosing several doggies from old age, I wanted to do watercolor angel doggie portraits as memorials to pets that have passed onto the Rainbow Bridge. You can see all my pet portraits as well as all my other artwork. I do custom work so please feel free to contact me if you have any projects!
Angeldoggie on Cafe Press
After your custom artwork is done, (or choose from already available artwork/items on this site) I can put these images on a variety of items such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, doggie t-shirts, mugs, decorator pillows, coasters, calendars, and a lot of other items! Something special you want? Let me work on your project!
Galen's Art Prints for Sale
See all my art available for purchase as giclee prints, with my framing options, or simply the print so you can have it matted and framed as you like.
My sense of humor comes out here too with altered fine art: I have made Henry VIII into a mastiff, and the Mona Lisa into "Mona Visla." Gainsborough's Blue Boy is a Blue Spaniel. Enjoy!
Performing Animal Welfare Society art page
This link is to the artwork that I have donated to the Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The original paintings were auctioned off at fundraising events but museum-quality giclee prints are available for sale and all proceeds will go to PAWS.
Performing Animal Welfare Society
This is the website of the Performing Animal Welfare Society. They rescue all sorts of animals from zoos, circuses, private individuals and more. They have elephants and tigers on their 2300 acre sanctuary, ARK2000. There is another sanctuary in Galt with other types of animals.
I have painted a couple of their elephants and donated the paintings to their fundraisers. They are fabulous people and are doing a wonderful job and they LOVE the animals. Help them out and join their organization for as little as $25!
San Francisco SPCA Bark & Whine Ball
This is the most fun event! Folks bring their doggies and they are dressed to the nines (I'm talking about the doggies!), or even (gasp!) naked! Tuxes, dresses, tapestry jackets, motorcycle jackets, samurai, geisha, maribou collars, glitz, glam. . . somewhat akin to the Oscar's "Red Carpet." It's a total delight to attend. They have great food, a live band, lots of beautiful people and beautiful doggies. I giggled for days afterward just thinking about the sights!

March 1, 2007, will be my second time there. I will be donating a custom pet portrait as well as a piece of my "altered fine art"--Henry VIII as a mastiff. Come and bid or just come and support the SPCA!
Happy Tails
This is the only no-kill shelter in the Sacramento, CA area. They work with cats and dogs and support feral cat colonies by neutering and spaying the feral kitties, feeding them when necessary, and bringing the adoptable ones into the sanctuary to find forever homes.

They do a delightful fundraiser each year called "Painting for Paws" to which I donated a custom pet portrait.

But to my surprise, when I attended the event, the kitties had been painting for months and their works of art were matted and framed and they were FLYING off the racks, selling like hotcakes! It was a total delight! If you're in the area, make it a point to attend next year!
It was so hard, not to mention humbling, to compete with all that furry talent but someone did bid on my custom portrait! Whew!
Tri-Valley Animal Rescue
This is the organization where we adopted Mo and Molly, our totally wonderful doggies! They have a fun fundraising event called "That's Amore."
Guide Dogs for the Blind
I donated a custom pet portrait to this wonderful group. They put on a fundraiser at a beautiful hotel/spa in Napa, CA.
Napa Humane
This wonderful group has a fundraiser each year called "Cause for Paws" at a beautiful hotel in the Napa wine country. Great food, wine tasting, and lots of wonderful things to bid on.
Best Friends Animal Society
They have a fundraiser in Los Angeles each year, called the "Lint Roller Party." I donated a custom pet portrait for the event. They have helped out with the Katrina situation (as almost all rescue groups have by taking in animals) and are trying to help out pets abandonded in the Iraq war zone! See their "Special Deliery from Beruit" page!
In Defense of Animals
"In a world in which too many look away, IDA has been on the cutting edge of front-line activism to end abuse and exploitation." Jeffrey Masson
Author, When Elephants Weep

I have a couple of donations for their eBay auction site: a giclee print of my "Zebra Dreams" and a certificate for a custom pet portrait. Let's support their efforts!
In Defense of Animals eBay auction
Visit IDA's online auction, get tickets to special events, art and a whole host of other wonderful items and help them help the animals!!!!
