Introducing... My Pets and My Art that Promises to Help Animals in Need!

I'm an Dog Loving Artist!

Hi! First, I'll introduce you to all 4 of our doggies. They are all rescues and each has a unique story.

Then, I'll introduce you to my artwork. I'm a painter and my specialty is painting the unique expressions of animals, especially dogs! I am committed to donating 40% of any portrait commissioned as the result of this website to the ASPCA. I also donate to other dog rescue charities, such as greyhound rescue and my local animal shelter.

I have a special place in my heart for dogs!!

Sparky, The Newest Member of Our Family

4 year old, Male, Beagle/Australian Cattle Dog Mix

Here is Sparky! He was abandoned by his owners because they were moving into an apartment where they didn't allow dogs. Well, move somewhere else, people!!

Anyway, their loss is my gain. We weren't planning to add to our family at this time, but when I saw Sparky at the Petsmart adoption day, I couldn't resist!

He's a sweet dog, very gentle and loving. He follows me everywhere and I have only heard him bark once! I'm sure the other dogs will teach him...

Introducing, Lucky!

7 years old, Female, English Black Labrador Retriever

My husband (fiance at the time) received a call 3 years ago from his friend about a black lab who was abandonded... His friend went to visit their rental property after the tenants moved out and found her locked in the backyard without food or water. What's worse, is that she had just had puppies and they took those and just left her!

He agreed to help them by taking her and trying to find a home for her. I had agreed to come over that night with my camera and make some brochures. When I met her that night, she already had a new set of toys, collar, leash and a tag that said "Lucky Iyer", with his phone number. And the rest is history!

Lucky is the sweetest girl, who loves to play and loves attention. She is never agressive. My husband has taken her to school and she is now a Delta Society Dog, which means she's a trained therapy dog. However, with his work demands, he hasn't had time to use her for that purpose yet...

Champy Boy, Greyhound Rescue

11 years old, Male, Greyhound

This is Champy. He's had a hard life until he came to us in 2003. Champy was bred by a greyhound racing farm in Alabama. He was successfully raced in many race tracks across the country until he broke his leg in 2001. They didn't even splint it. The inconsiderate owners used him as a stud dog for a year after that and then gave him up to the greyhound rescue organization "because they had enough puppies."

Thank goodness that farm has now closed. According to the greyhound rescue group I used (Greytfriends.org), this farm didn't even have a shelter for the dogs! They fed them raw, not for human consumption, beef byproducts. He had scabs all over his body, no hair on this hind legs and was a mangy looking boy! Not to mention his teeth! We had to have many rotten teeth removed. Did you know that in Alabama they weren't even required to give him a rabies shot or any other vaccinations?? Disgusting!!!

Now he's a happy, lazy and spoiled retiree!

Murphy, My First Baby!

14 years old, Female, Shepherd, Lab, Chow Mix

I got Murphy from the Atlanta Humane Society in 1992, one year before I had my first human baby. She was just 12 weeks old when I walked into that shelter after having purchased my first home. I cry when I enter shelters, so I basically zoned right in on her immediately and adopted her!

Murphy was named after Murphy Brown from the show. Her personality fits-- she's a bossy, nosey and manipulative girl! She is the alpha in the house and even though now she has such bad arthritis that she can't take walks or do steps, she still has to boss the others around. She will be 15 in May!
