Dakota - walking in reverse

Dakota our family dog is a rescue dog. Yes he was saved from life on the streets or worse a short life by some very kind folks who work as paramedics in Oakland CA.

Dakota's mother was a street dog in East Oakland. A paramedic crew found her just before she gave birth to a litter. They took her in and helped her have her litter.

Kind volunteers took in the pups. Dakota was one of these lucky dogs. He spent his first year living at the home of one of these paramemdics.

She was kind enough to share his life with us. We drove up to her house one day to take a look. I was in no way in the mood to take in another dog to our house. However the whole family was won over in short order by this shy and slightly nervous dog.

Before I go any further you should know about the tile above. You see Dakota still has some of that street wariness in his blood. He gets nervous over quick movements or uncertain surfaces.

Take our wood floors in our kitchen. They make him very nervous to walk on. So everyday he has lived with us he has made his trek across the kitchen floor to the back door in either a fourth gear run or to everyones amazement he creeps slowly in reverse acrosss the floor.
