Introducing...Lucky Penny!
Lucky Penny or Penny as she is know is an 20-yr-old 15.1hh chestnut Appendix-Quarter Horse mare.
Her old owners named her Penny, because in the summer she gets a shinny coat that looks like a newly minted copper penny. Then we added the "Lucky" to her name. People think it is because Penny is lucky to have us (which is true), but it's really because we are lucky to have her.
Penny was given to me in September 2005 when her current owner told the barn manager to find her a good home. I had just began taking lessons at that time, and REALLY wanted a horse. So after taking a few lesson on her and coming out to ride, groom and bathe her, she was finally mine.
According to one of the stable owners she's pretty much done everything from jumping, western pleasure, gymkana, to being a trail horse on Catalina Island and working at Camp Padlenton, in Oceanside, CA.
Now she has began yet another job to add to resume, as a dressage horse. I have now had her for 2 1/2 years, and can honestly say I don't know what I would do without her.
