About the ASPCA's NYC Programs
The ASPCA is dedicated to making New York a no-kill city and a safer, healthier environment for the companion animals who call it home. We bring free/low-cost spay/neuter services to all five boroughs via our mobile clinics, and our Humane Law Enforcement Agents are on the beat daily to investigate complaints of animal cruelty.
Whether you visit our Manhattan headquarters to adopt an animal, bring your pet to see a vet at Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital, or volunteer with us, we hope you'll be a part of our community.

Adopt an Animal Today!
- List of Adoptable Animals at our Shelter
- Because every New Yorker needs a furry sidekick.
- Preparing Your Home for Your New Pet
- Housekeeping is a casual affair for some—a little hair here or a stain there is of no major importance. Others are more fastidious. While adopting a shelter animal can turn your house into a home, your new furry friend could also turn it into a mess. With a little forethought and the following tips, you can have it all-happy, healthy pets and a clean, stylish home!
- The Right Pet for You
- We're thrilled—you're going to be joining the happy ranks of pet parents worldwide! The hardest decision you face may not be what to name your furry bundle of joy, or what color food bowl to buy, but simply what species your pet will be.
- Top 10 Tips for Adopting the Perfect Family Pet
- Congratulations, there's going to be a new addition to the household! Adopting a dog or cat for the family is a big decision, and the ASPCA wants to help you act with your head—as well as your heart. Thinking before you bring home that little (or not so little) bundle of joy can save the animal from being returned to the shelter, and can help ensure a long and satisfying life with your pet.

Animal Assisted Therapy Classes
In addition to enriching lives and improving human health, the animal-assisted therapy program at the ASPCA brings about greater community acceptance of dogs. Canines are seen as taking part in the healing processes of human beings in a variety of different situations, and facilities that would never have allowed dogs to enter before are now letting them in to serve humans in need of assistance.

- I am quite saddened and angered over the abrupt KILLING of Oreo-after all he's been through! WHO is responsible for this execution, effected
so quickly,as to stifle those groups trying to send him to non kill sanctuaries, where he had a good chance of rehabilitation. This person should be relieved immediately of any further authority in life & death matters! Haven't you heard of Bad Rap, Best Friends, and Recycled Love-sanctuaries where 47 of 51 Michael Vick pit bulls were saved-even over the exhortations of PETA and Humane Society?
I am a contributor and have adopted at least one (3-legged) cat from you. I will now turn to other, more humane organizations who do not arbitrarely commit such outrageous, negative publicity acts. This latest episode I'm sure did wonders for your "caring," "helpful"
image. thank you, John Tembeck, Jr
