Asperger Materials
I'm not only a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist, I'm a father of a son with Asperger's Syndrome. I specialize in working with older children and adolescents with speech and language disorders and I have found some products that I use both at work and at home. I want to share them with other SLPs and parents in the hope that they might be helpful to you and yours.

The Essentials Part 1
These are the products I use on an almost daily basis. Here is the first.

A 5 Is Against the Law! Social Boundaries:
Straight Up! An honest guide for teens and young adults

This excellent resource has been extremely valuable to me and the students I work with at the high school level. Written in a style that talks to the student directly, I have also been able to use the ideas to present information to teachers as well. In fact the anxiety wave section is the basis for a few crisis intervention plans. PICK THIS ONE UP.
The Essentials, Part 2
These are the products I use on an almost daily basis. Here is the second.
This vast resource not only assists with my asperger students, but those with general language disorders as well. Providing many a situation as well as guidance to solve those situations, it is well thought out as well as complete. Very handy for those older students.
The Essentials, Part 3
These are the products I use on an almost daily basis. Here is the third.
These two resources provide an excellent description of using a 5 point scale to describe a student's anxiety level and how to look at and control anxiety in any situation. While "The Incredible Five Point Scale" is aimed at an elementary population, the tenets it contains are the basis for the first resource mentioned above. The other book, "A 5 Could Make Me Lose Control" is actually a set of cards with anxiety-producing situations on them. The student then places them next to numbers 1 through 5 to indicate how anxious they are about that situation. Very interesting results are obtained that can lead to discovering what makes a student anxious. It can also be used to fine tune how they perceive anxiety as well.
