Sandell Asset Management

Everything in life has a system at it's foundation.

Without systems all would be chaos. Investment experts, data base designers, and employment agencies all have systems. Asset Management consists of many components, parts, or elements, humans have a tendency to focus on one or two parts of a system. One cannot act as if each part of a system can be applied without the other elements. Nothing, after all exists in a vacuum. We often create problems for ourselves since we tend to focus on the individual trees without seeing the forest.

But as you master of system thinking you will begin to focus on inter-relationship, inter-connectivity and the inter-dependency of the parts. It is such wholistic interaction that give rise to the phenomena of the whole.

Complex Asset Management systems require a complex understanding of how systems work. When you have this understanding greater benefits may be accrued at the lowest possible economic, emotional and physical cost.

Different parts of a system, whether it designed for executive recruiters or some other type of headhunter will exhibit many possible behavior patterns that are specific and natural to that part of the system. These patterns will reflect the unique history and qualities of each individual part. For instance in the system that we call "corporation," there may be a CEO, CFO, regional Director, analysts etc- all behaving as a CEO, CFO, regional Director, analyst might be expected to behave. The name used by experts on systems to describe the unique histories and unique qualities that lead to these behaviors is "detail complexity. " A company like Sandell Asset Management will have all of these elements in their corporate structure.

Since any investment is a system build on a foundation of other interlocking systems it would be quite useful for any investor, to understand what systems actually are, how they function and why they are important. On the most basic level a system is an established group of interdependent details or parts - items, ideas, or principles - that form a complex whole, and maintain their existence by interacting regularly, harmoniously, orderly, and methodically over time to perform a task.

Leonardo DaVinci, George Washington Carver and Thomas Edison all who had mastered the process of integrating multiple systems and disciplines around a central vision, passion or idea. The Harrison process is not an exact science nor is intended to be. It is just a practical tool for anyone to access who has an interest in the concepts of self actualization and peak performance two ideas that ultimately influence and reflect all aspects of our personal and professional lives.
