This lens will focus on the unique challenges and opportunities of nonprofit organizations, including charities, foundations, professional membership organizations and trade associations.  While most associations are concerned with generating income, they are driven by a mission that directly serves their constituency.  Whether the constituents are cancer patients or engineers, each has its own set of concerns that an organization is trying to address.  Trade associations have companies as members; professional societies have individuals as members; federations have other associations as members.
