Ranked #48,930 in Entertainment, #583,826 overall

The Asterix comic book series is a cult classic in Europe, and the crazy French characters created by writer Rene Goscinny and illustrator Albert Uderzo in 1959 have become best-sellers around the world, popular with both adults and children.

Set in Gaul around 50BC, Asterix is the champion of the last village holding out against Julius Caesar and the conquering Romans. He gains superhuman strength by drinking a potion brewed by the druid Getafix. The adentures of the plucky Asterix and his very large but very strong friend Obelix are the focus of the 33 main books.
