Aston Martin Cars

Aston Martin brand of vehicles are manufactured by a luxurious British Company called Aston Martin Lagonda Limited. The company was founded in 1913 by two form Singer Automobile salesmen; Lionel Martin and Robert Bramford in Calloway Street, London. They had their car sales company named as Martin and Bramford which acts as the predecessor to the present Aston Martin. The name Aston Martin comes from one of the names of the founders Martin and the place where he use to speed drive his special cars the Aston Hill. In 1915 the first Aston Martin car was produced in a factory they had acquire at Henniker place in Kensington but the business headed for the drain due to the effects of the WWI and the recruitment of both partners to the forces; martin to the Royal Admiralty and Bramford to the Royal Army Service Corp.

The Company was re enacted later after the war and moved to Abingdon Roan, still in Kensington. The Company was rejuvenated financially by the entry of Count Lois Zborowiski moments after Branford left in 1920. By 1922 the Bramford and Martin produced first car to compete in the French Grand Prix, the car was a success and set high records in Brookland for speed and endurance to rough terrain. The Company produced different cars as; Three works team car in 1915, Razor Blade in 1916 which was later developed into Halford special. Later it went under in 1924 and was bailed out by Lady Charnwood whose son John Benson sat on the board. Unfortunately it again went under and closed in1925 and 1926 respectively leading to Lionel Martin's departure from the Company.

In its renewed revitalization the company was named Aston Martin Motors as new investors joined Lady Charnwood; the list included Bill Renwick, Augustus (Bert) Bertelli and a number of some elite families. Renwick and Bert were long time partners who came up with unique Buzzbox car which still survives up to today. The ownership changed hands several time up to 1947 when Ford Motors it acquired only to dispose some of its share in 2007 to a company owned by Investment Dar and a Kuwait owned company Adeem and a British investor John Sinders. These David Richards, John Sinders, Investment Dar and Adeem Investment three constitute the majority share holders with Ford Motors holding the rest of the share which are about 10%.

In the television world the Aston Martin has been featured in programs as Sir Roger Moore, and The Persuaders.

The Aston Martin life has been marred by multiple financial problems from its early days to the present day. The owners should thing of diversifying to other types of cars as heavy commercial, utility, family. The company has been involved in many corporate responsibility activities but a lot more must be done.
