The Best Books On Learning OBE Techniques

Reading from astral projection books is one of the best ways to learn to astral project out of your body. And this will be even more fun if you actually enjoy reading books in general.

With the increasing popularity of the subject of astral projection and out of body experiences (AP and OBE - both are pretty much the same thing, btw), countless people who have had such experiences have come forward describing them and teaching others how to achieve the same.

Astral projection books are timeless treasures that will be read over and over by the next generations. And the more people write about their experiences in the astral plane, the more we all know about the realm beyond our physical realm.

Since becoming interested in learning astral projection, I have bought countless books on the subject. Some with simple account of experiences, while others being true teachers on the subject (books by Robert Monroe, Robert Bruce and Richard Buhlman come to mind here).

Today it is my pleasure to give you a short glimpse into my collection of some of the best astral projection books that you can find - I've learned tons from each and every book listed here.

Keep coming back as I am adding reviews of more astral projection books.

Mastering Astral Projection

by Robert Bruce

Mastering Astral Projection by Robert BruceMastering Astral Projection by Robert Bruce is undoubtedly one of the best books on the subject of learning to consciously leave your body.

For me this is the book that started it all (along with William Buhlman's Adventures Beyond The Body, but I'll get to that in a moment). Without this book I doubt that I'd have ever found astral projection as such a fascinating subject as I find it out.

Ever since I've read this book I've been wanting to learn astral projection and I've read book after book and watched video after video on the subject.

Robert Bruce has quite an extensive knowledge on the subject, knowledge that he freely shares in his book. Personally I found this book one of the easiest to read on the subject. And this says a lot considering that it WAS the very first book I read on AP.

Astral Dynamics

by Robert Bruce

Astral Dynamics by Robert BruceAstral Dynamics was the second astral projection book I bought. I got it right after reading the previous book and loving it so much that I've decided to learn how to astral project out of my body.

Let me tell you that this book is thick! It's a monster of a book so you can't take it around for a light reading. But it's so full packed with information that if you only get this book, you might not even need to buy anything else (unless you're a book lover, like me).

The book is truly an authority on AP/OBE and is jam packed with techniques that you can follow along, including Robert Bruce's rope technique that has become so popular ever since he first mentioned it. Many people have a successful OBE following Robert's rope exit technique.

Astral Dynamics is a book that you simply have to have in your library if you enjoy learning about the subject of astral projection. You just can't afford not to have the wisdom that is contained in this book by one of THE masters of authority in out of body experiences.

Adventures Beyond The Body

by William Buhlman

Adventures Beyond The Body by William BuhlmanAdventures Beyond the Body by William Buhlman is another authority book on the subject of OBE. This astral projection book is rightfully included in the top 5 books on astral projection / OBE ever.

My copy is battered and tattered as it has been read quite a few times and it shows.

I love this book because William Buhlman actually shares his personal experiences with learning astral projection, how he came to have his first AP, and because of this extremely detailed recount, you simply know when you're having your first out of body experience because you will remember the exact "symptoms", signs that Buhlman had when he was exiting his body as well.

The book leaves nothing out and it's very personal in nature. It really draws you in and makes you want to read and read, and when the book is over, you're left feeling sad that you can't read anymore.

Journeys Out of the Body

by Robert Monroe

Journeys Out Of The Body by Robert MonroeJourneys Out Of The Body is the first in the trilogy by Robert Monroe on astral projection and his personal accounts of out of body experiences.

This is a classic book that needs to be read by any aspirant to having OBE experiences. Robert Monroe was the pioneer who discovered the Phasing technique of exiting the body which leads you directly to the astral plane as opposed to real life time (you being next to your physical body in the same room).

Robert Monroe stands up there right next to Robert Bruce and William Buhlman. These three guys are the fathers of astral projection. While there were others before them who recounted their experiences, these three folks really put all their knowledge in writing in a way that is truly accessible to all of us from the comfort of our own home.

Seriously do yourself a favor and get this book. Even better, get all three in the trilogy. The first sets the ground, and the next two books expand. But boy do they expand - they take you on a journey that you might think is wacko, crazy and otherworldly (literally) if you're so inclined.

Yet when you finish reading the book, you can't but be in awe of all that Robert Monroe has accomplished (along with creating the Monroe Institute for teaching astral projection to everybody who cares to learn).

Astral Projection And the Nature of Reality

by John Magnus

Astral Projection And the Nature of RealityThis is a book on astral projection that I read quite recently. Until a few months ago I was not even aware of John Magnus. I bought the book along with a few others at Amazon because I've read about it at an astral projection forum before.

Astral Projection by John Magnus teaches OBE from the start. There are some interesting exercises worth trying to induce exit out of the body. The book is part a journal where he compiles his own experiences and how he came about to having his first AP.

He started I think in 2003 having read first about AP somewhere on the internet, and in his book he says that he found most of the information online conflicting and confusing at best (I agree here).

He also discusses other aspects of spirituality, talking about the ego and the belief system, which is quite refreshing.

While I wouldn't put this book quite up there with Monroe, Robert Bruce and Buhlman, I think it is worth a read because you are sure to pick up a few things (ideas and techniques) that might be just right for you to have your first astral projection.

How to Have an Out-of-Body Experience

by William Buhlman

How to Have an Out-of-Body Experience by William BuhlmanWhile this is not a book per se, it is worth adding it to the mix because it's simply awesome.

I've just discovered William Buhlman's set of CDs recently (remember he was one of my first 'mentors' in astral projection with his book Adventures Beyond The Body) and when I saw it at Amazon, I simply had to have it. Afterall he's not a newcommer to OBE, he's one of the masters in the field.

Honest I have to say that if I had this set of CDs when I first started learning astral projection, I'd be by now way more advanced at it than I am now. I almost had an AP the first time I listened to the 30 minutes visualization exercise (last track on the first CD). I was blown away!

Maybe it's the fact that I've learned meditation with a guided voice (guided meditation) so for me this works much easier to put in trance than say binaural beats or simply trying to relax the body. But the fact is that the soothing voice for Mr. Buhlman really put me under very fast.

I think you can really speed up your learning to astral project by working with this set of CDs which includes exercises to guide you through the entire time. A thumbs up from me!

Dreams and Astral Travel

by Rosemary Ellen Guiley

Dreams and Astral Travel (Mysteries, Legends, and Unexplained Phenomena)

Amazon Price: $31.98 (as of 05/27/2012)Buy Now

I've just finished reading this book and I loved it. Of course it had to be featured here, since it talks about astral travel, dreams and astral projection in general.

"Dreams and Astral Travel" explores the mysteries surrounding dreams and looks at experiences that suggest that dreams are far more than the result of mere imagination and subconscious thoughts of individuals. Included in this fascinating volume are practical tips on how young readers can better understand their own dreams and put dreams to work for them.
