Rave on Rave...The Dynamics of a Trance band...

Astralasia has been around for a little while now, maturing into a fine vintage with producer Swordfish at the helm, and side-kick Buaku firmly at his right hand throughout all the changes. The band, who's present configuration is 8 steady members, has been gradually evolving over the past 15 years, seeing various line-up's & guests come and go, and the sound has thickened like fine gravy into a part-electronica, part-live musician psy-trance-extravaganza as older songs get remixed, remodelled and recycled and new stuff just keeps appearing from the deep and fertile creative well.

The current albums offer mainly new material, though some reworking of older tunes, especially live, beckon long time fans to come and reconnect with the band as you have never seen them before, and for new & potential fans there is loads of scope to immerse yourself in some excellently crafted dance/trance music that actively breaks down any barrier that may still exist in peoples minds between the wizardry of electronica, and the organic or 'real' musician...With a back catalogue spanning about 15 years, it's a good history lesson into Psy-Trance and related genres.

There is no defining Astralasia but here are some hints.

We play live at between 120-150 beats per minute (BPM). This is dance music alright, but we are more than a DJ. We are also a live band, so along with your dance beats you get the following...lilting magical flute, sexy saxophone, sleazy slide guitar, uplifting positive vocals, kinky keyboards, and dancing/costumes/make-up to boot. Definetely worth seeing live!

So you see we really are a live show, but that's half of what we do. In the studio is where Swordfish comes into his own. See below for some of his work over the past 15 years.

Astralasia has it all in that you can really crank up the volume of these tunes and hear some excellent melodies laid upon crisp beds of strict and challenging rhythms that you really have to move to...Or, if you pick the other type of tune that is ambient and chilled, it will move you right into your inner space, then before you know it you are floating on a light-plane driven by sensuous, dreamy soundscapes that leave it all hanging out, gently sending you off into the stratosphere!!

If you like your music dynamic & stimulating, then Astralasia has an alluring blend of styles that can really find you out whatever your mood...to uplift, inspire and move you on every level.
