Asus Eee 1005HA Netbook

There are a lot of Netbooks out there on the market. Many are from very respectable companies and some are more expensive and some are cheaper. But there are some features on the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BK 10.1-Inch Netbook that make it better than the rest.

One of my main concerns regarding purchasing a netbook was if the keyboard would be to small. After much research I found that the Asus Eee 1005HA netbook was designed with an ergonomic keyboard and a multi-touch touchpad. Due to intelligent engineering the netbooks thin and compact chassis is 92% of the size of a regular notebooks keyboard, which proved to be fatigue free during my prolonged use.

The ASUS Netbook also has a user friendly wide format multi-touch touchpad which helps to navigate the widescreen display without a mouse. The great thing is that with the multi-touch interface I can scroll and zoom quickly with two fingers.

The other great thing on the keyboard is an easy-to-access hotkey for locking the touchpad when you want to use an external mouse.

Before you take my word for it and spend your hard earned dollars I felt it would be nice for you to see what other people thought about this netbook once they've owned it and used it for awhile. Here are some real reviews from product owners.

This is exactly what I was looking for in a portable lightweight laptop/netbook. The keyboard size is good and easy to use. The smaller screen poses no issues for me, with two fingers I can enlarge the picture or make it smaller. I can take it with me and connect to any WIFI instantly. I may upgrade the RAM but for right now it's good. Battery life is GREAT! I have used it for hours without losing power, up over 8 before charging.
I would recommend this netbook and the price was right. Sleeve was included and I take it with me everywhere.

In spite of some trepidation because of a few negative reviews, nevertheless I bought the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BU from Amazon (first of August 2009). Then, I embarked on a 2-week trip to Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) and Russia with crossed fingers. The 1005HA performed like a champ. With some tweeking, the battery indeed lasted over 10 hours, even while watching hours of .avi movies (flash drive) from Moscow to New York. At a PowerPoint presentation in sophisticated Moscow, the blue 1005HA showed it "wow" factor in both style and function. Four hours of solid "on" running through a projector on the battery and still showed 4 hours left on the battery. Charging was never a problem. While in Central Asia I did a Skype presentation back to the US and it worked perfectly, both sound and visual. During a long layover at the Moscow airport (free wi-fi) I did lots of e-mail and Facebook work with never a hiccup. The fast start-up time is a huge plus. I use MS Office 2007, Google Chrome, Media Player Classic with K-Lite Codec Pack. Main uses: business & personal. Several executive who saw it wanted to buy one after seeing it perform. 6 stars, if I could give 6.

I bought this with the 10.5 hour battery pack and the 2 GB Crucial upgrade from Amazon after continued delays from Dell on my new Vostro 1520 notebook with Xp.

This is a wonderful product. I have briefly tried typing on a number of netbooks since last fall, and this is the only one that had a decent keyboard just big enough to accommodate my hands and not result in multiple typing errors.

I was skeptical of the 10.5 hour battery claim, but it seems to be accurate. I can be on the net all day if I need to, and the recharge rate from 3% to 100% when the unit is off seems very fast.

I also like the fact that it uses Xp (as all the netbooks do) rather than being loaded down with Vista.

The drive is plenty big for my needs, I have had no problems loading and running the full installation of Office 2003 Pro, and the display is brilliant.

Another thing, the little machine is just right for practical use when flying coach. I had some real problems trying to use my Toshiba Satellite when flying for the past few years, and the distance between the top of the display and the edge of the netbook when open is a practical size to get my work done on a flight.
