Medical Aid
To help fight maternal and infant mortality rates among the rural poor of Tajikistan, ATAD provides free kits of basic medical supplies to poor patients in the maternity ward of a medical clinic in the village of Surkat, Istravshan region, Tajikistan. ATAD has also donated a gynecological chair to the clinic, the first it has owned in its entire 20 years of operation.
Plans to expand this program to other clinics and regions are underway.
Aid To Orphans
In order to improve the standard of living, educational opportunities, and other necessities for Tajikistan's estimated 11,000 orphans and institutionalized children, ATAD has entered into a supporting partnership with the orphanage in the Spitamen district, Sogd region, Tajikistan, a rural district near the city of Khujand. In addition to a monthly donation of food products for the orphanage, ATAD has donated a washing machine and oven. As part of both ATAD's Aid to Orphans program and its Computer Training program, ATAD has also donated a computer, printer, and supplies for the use of the orphans, and conducts computer classes for both the orphans and low-income children from the surrounding area in order to improve their chance of higher-paying employment.
Plans to expand this program to other institutions and other regions are underway.
Computer Education
In order to combat the poor access to computers and computer training in rural and poverty-stricken areas of Tajikistan and improve the job employment chances of the residents of these areas, ATAD has established a computer access and education program. ATAD has donated a computer, with necessary supplies, to the orphanage in the Spitamen district, Sogd region, Tajikistan, a rural district near the city of Khujand, for the use of the orphans. In addition, ATAD conducts free computer classes for both the orphans and low-income children in the surrounding area.
Plans to expand this program to other sites and regions are underway.
