Greek Metro
The Metro of Athens is quite new. It is fast and easy to use and the best way to get to different locations of Athens and the suburbs in little time. It is connected to the major railway lines including the suburban railway leading to the Airport of Athens Eleftherios Venizelos. Most of the stations include corners of archaeological findings discovered during the construction of the metro and works of art created by famous artists.

transportation in Athens couldn't be any easier!
Athens Metro MapA map of the metro is always useful when you are visiting Athens especially if it is your first time. This map is quite detailed showing all the stops and lines including
Athens Train Lines
leading to Piraeus and Kifisia or the suburban railway going to Athens International Airport.
While the Greek metro was under construction important archaeological findings were found and excavated by archaeologists and while many of them are now exhibited in museums of Athens others are actually preserved inside different metro stations. Some of the most interesting findings are presented at the Acropolis Metro Museum, meaning the archaeological findings revealed near the Acropolis while the Acropolis Metro Station was being built.
The best way to enjoy the treasures found there is to go to the Acropolis of Athens
by metro! This way you will combine visiting the famous sight with some extra recently found antiquities. You can take as many photos as you like and then move on with the rest of the sightseeing. Taking the metro to go to Monastiraki would be a nice option if you haven't thought about it so far...
