Athletes for a Cure
About Us
Athletes for a Cure, a program of the Prostate Cancer Foundation, is a fundraising and awareness program to assist individual athletes in their quest to raise money for better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer. Every dollar raised from the program goes directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. How It Works
Athletes may also fundraise and participate in our Special Events, which include the St. Anthony's Triathlon and the New York City Triathlon.
Athletes are rewarded with amazing prizes from Newton shoes and Zoot uniforms to Oakley eyewear when they attain their fundraising goals.

Meet Scott Zagarino, Managing Director
Scott Zagarino is Managing Director of Athletes for a Cure, a fundraising and awareness program of the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and is responsible for overseeing its development and marketing.
Born in Laredo, Texas and raised in Miami, Florida, Zagarino grew up racing Olympic class sailboats. Sailing brought him to California in 1979, where he was hired to run a training program for Olympic sailors. He began competing in triathlon in 1985 and qualified to compete as a professional in 1987.
He and his wife, Greta Rose, reside in Hood River, Oregon.
Our next event:

Fight Gone Bad IV is a one day event held at CrossFit Affiliates nationwide in which participants complete 3 rounds of the exhausting Workout of the Day, Fight Gone Bad, for a score. Participants also raise funds and awareness for Athletes for a Cure and the Wounded Warrior Project.
In it's fourth year, Fight Gone Bad has raised over $1 million for the Prostate Cancer and the Wounded Warrior Project.

......on the night before he died as a real, live, initiated, trained, experienced, traditional, hereditary warrior with thirty-seven body scars and a trophy or two on my belt, I find such expressions as "peaceful warrior" offensive, trivializing, and insulting. "Peaceful warrior" is far more than a contradiction in terms. The function of a warrior is to eliminate an exterior enemy presence. . . . Cowardice is a serious vice. Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than one's fear. The timid presume it is lack of fear that allows the brave to act when the timid do not. But to take action when one is not afraid is easy. To refrain when afraid is also easy. To take action regardless of fear is brave.
