"Are you tied to what you are doing or do you keep your options open?"
"Prospect all your friends and family members because they trust you."
"You get two people to join your MLM group who then each get two and they get two and pretty soon you'll be in the DIAMOND qualification!"
Those lines play like a broken record - the same ol' stuff over and over again.
And what if you don't know all those snazzy prospecting techniques that are guaranteed to get you MLM prospects? That's okay because that's what all those motivational CDs you buy from your upline are for.
Your very car becomes a MLM university - you listen to stories after stories about how others have made it big in your network marketing industry. You listen to how the "diamonds" or the "platinums" or whatever higher ups are spending all their time shopping for fancy cars, fur coats, and visiting all the beaches of the world.
Or you hear about those who's "made it" through all their trials and tribulation. You hear about the drug dealers and gang-bangers who, because of this multi-level-marketing business, finally cleaned up and turned around to make it work for them.
This is supposed to get you pumped. After all, if they can do it, so can you right?
And what happens when you get burnt out? When you get overwhelmed with all the "no's" and all the negativity?

Online MLM Lead Generation Concepts Part II
(How do you rate this article?)You see, while the traditional form of building a network marketing business may work for some, odds are, it's not working for you. Much like yourself, I've gone down that traditional network marketing route - sponsor two who each sponsors two more etc.
While I give many thanks and much credit to who I am today to all that training and that MLM school of hard knocks, I think there are other ways of building a multi level marketing business. Ways that capitalize on the technology available today to both you and me.
So then how do you still get to be the measly 5% who actually make it in the multi level marketing industry?
It's about taming the "wild wild web". Let me break this down into 5 major marketing concepts your upline have no clue about.
1. Be a Problem Solver
The first thing you have to understand is that nowadays, people of all ages go online as their FIRST response to a problem they may be facing in their lives. They browse one of the major search engines and look for solutions (in the form of information).
Their problems can be as simple as "how do I change the oil in my car" to something more complicated like "how do I house break a pet pig."
And as you might guess... people also go online for business opportunities related information. What this ultimately means is if you learn to capture these people's attention... you've just tapped into the most ridiculously and highly targeted group of people who may be interested in what you have.
It's akin to being able to skip through all you deadbeat prospects and talk to only the best of the best - the ones who are truly qualified for your network marketing opportunity.
2. Get Your Prospects to Pay for Your Marketing Cost
Many MLMers go out of business because they waste all their precious money on advertising!
They were instructed by their uplines to print out tons of fliers and post them everywhere - on people's windshields, telephone poles, inside bathroom stalls, you name it.
Or maybe you were instructed to just place some "strategic" ads in some newspaper or the yellowpages... or maybe you were told to go online and buy "MLM leads" by the thousands.
All of this yields you NOTHING.
This faux pas ties into point #1, which is about learning to target market to those who are specifically looking for what you have to offer.
Smart advertising is one thing; learning to cover your advertising cost is another.
Ultimately, you not only want to optimize your advertising (i.e. filter out the looky-loos and the tire-kickers BEFORE you spent a penny on them), you also want to optimize all of your prospects - even the ones who don't join.
What do I mean by "optimize all of your prospects?"
Let me put it in layman terms - you want to MAKE MONEY no matter if your prospect buys into you and your business! This will not only cover your cost of advertising but you'll even profit. For example, just last month I made $1,340.00 and got 127 leads. That's quite a change from paying $$$ to someone else to get you useless leads huh?
(In the next part of this series, I'll talk about how you can do this exact same setup for getting customers - after all... you ARE selling something beyond just an opportunity right?)

The third thing you have to also grasp (this is huge so pay attention) is that your money is in your list! (Read the last sentence again, it's THAT important.)
You see... not everyone will be ready to buy into you, your products, nor your opportunity right away. It's a matter of timing and also trust. They may not be financially ready to commit to an opportunity yet; they might be short on time; they might have other priorities they want to straighten out first; or they simply don't trust you just yet.
Here's where most MLMers make the biggest mistake (heck, businesses in general are making this silly mistake)... they let these hot potential prospect go! They say what their uplines teach them to say, they say "NEXT!"
Now hold on there buster. Just because a prospect may not be ready right at this moment, this doesn't mean he/she won't ever be ready.
You have two choices: 1) "next" that prospect and maybe, just maybe, you'll run into him/her again some time down the road when he/she is finally ready or 2) YOU take control and responsibility for making sure that person comes to you when he/she is ready.
In order for you to take control however and not ever have to spend marketing dollars on this same exact prospect, you need to get his/her contact info. You need to motivate him/her to agree for you to market to her (in an appropriate manner of course). And this all starts with getting that prospect's contact information.
That's what I mean by a "list". It's a list of people who have already demonstrated interest in what you have to offer. Your livelihood depends on that list of subscribers/prospects ;)
You see, whereas #1 requires luck (and even more marketing dollar since you'll have to get him/her to find you again via your advertising) #2 only requires creating a relationship.
What you need to get your prospect's contact information is through what's called a squeeze page or a capture page. (If you don't know what one looks like, here's one you can check out: Self Funded Proposal).
You basically flat out ask them to give you their contact info. And in exchange for that information, you educate your prospect and/or provide some form of incentive they would be interested in.
Then we move on to the next marketing concept...
4. Relationship
Don't let that "relationship" word scare you - you can create relationships online (remember, we are taming the "wild wild web"!)
You can create relationships with those people on your list many different ways. One such suggestion is through creating a series of newsletters that you are constantly adding to. You send one out every once in a while to your prospects who are in your marketing pipeline (those who aren't ready to buy into you just yet).
That newsletter of yours will remind your prospect, "Hey, remember me?! Yeah, we spoke and we liked each other. When the timing is right, don't forget to come back and we'll talk."
In the newsletter you'll educate them on topics that are related to what you are promoting (which means what your prospects are interested in). For example, if you are in a health and fitness MLM, perhaps you can create a series of newsletters promoting the benefits of your business opportunity and/or your products. Or if you are in a MLM dealing with legal stuff, get a series going that educate your prospects on some laws that may be of interest (for example, if you get in a car accident, what should you do...)
The point is, make sure your newsletters are adding value to your readers and are not just garbage. How your prospects perceive your value is tied into how your present yourself (and your expertise) through your newsletters. And, in case you missed it, how likely your prospect is to do business with you is directly proportional to how much value you add to them!

What intrigues me the most is how MLMs claim they are "just like franchises" - you build a successful one and you "cookie-cut" the rest. Here's the thing your uplines are missing out on though, traditional franchise are profitable!
Do you think Ray Kroc, the late franchisor of McDonald's, would've tried duplicating a system that was making $0???
What happens when you duplicate $0? You get another big fat $0! I don't care how many times you duplicate - when you have nothing of value to duplicate, you still end up with nothing of value.
And this is where the network marketing system fails. It is so focused on getting business builders, it loses sight that the bottom line still comes down to products being moved. And most MLMs nowadays aren't moving any products - they are only moving pissed off people who failed at this "pyramid scheme".
My advice to you is to get your franchise profitable first before trying to "franchise". For one, you can't duplicate profitability if you don't have it… And for two, people will be attracted to you once you have something they desire - that is, additional income from your franchise.
Think about it, what's more appealing, "I am broke and have a franchise that's just as broke and I can show you how to do the same!" Or, "I am earning a residual income through my franchise of which I am looking to build more of…"
Tough chose eh Sherlock?
This is where the sales of your product come in (this is also what separates legitimate network marketing companies from pyramid schemes *gasp*).
And this is also part of the magic of our Magic Slot Machine.
You see… what if you can apply the same idea of "prospecting" and getting your opportunity leads to pay for your marketing to your costumers? You think that'd give your franchise a boost? Maybe then you'll start making a profit instead of consistently lose money via all the CDs you are buying and all the "Pump You Up" seminars you attend.
Maybe now people will come chasing after you to find out how you make money instead of you chasing after them wanting to show them how you lose money.

Can you spot the difference?
"Our company has been around for 27 years."
- Vs -
"Our company has been around for 27 years which means you will be joining a company with great stability and past record and you will not ever have to worry about your business security."
Yes. Of course the second sentence is longer in length. However, there is a subtlety that makes all the difference in the world.
Spot it?
Notice how the first sentence is a statement, a rather detached one at that. It's merely saying "this is what it is..." There are absolutely no emotions to it. This is what we marketers call a "feature".
Now, by contrast, notice how the second sentence puts that same "feature" in perspective. It answers the question "so what"? It explains the reader the implications of the feature itself. It personalizes it and translates that feature into something tangible for the reader.
It makes it so that the reader actually give a rat's ass about what it has to say.
This is what we call a "benefit".
The differences between a feature and a benefit are night-and-day.
Let me ask you something else, what moves you more, the feature or the benefit? What perks you up more? Hearing about how long a company's been around OR how your business security is safe?
Hmm, toughie eh?
One of the biggest mistakes I see marketers make is hammering their prospects and costumers with features.
Look, NO one but yourself cares about your product's features. People only care about what those features will do for them. After all, as Perry Marshall says, "Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill. They wanted a hole." So tell them how your "feature" will do that for them.
Put things into perspective for your reader and speaking directly to their emotions is how you will get them to care.
The "So What?" Rule
So how do you distinguish between a feature and a benefit? It's simple really. Just use the "so what" rule.
After every selling point, ask yourself of that feature "so what?" If that selling point answers your question, then it's a benefit. If you have to scramble and conjure up some logic in your head to answer that question yourself, then it's a feature.
Try that exercise above, take each of those selling points and run them through the test. You'll see that the answer to the first statement if found in the SECOND statement.
It's obvious that the second statement is a benefit while the first one is merely a feature.
Remember, "features tell, benefits sell". I don't care whether you are prospecting a lead, doing a presentation at a home meeting, or writing your capture page. Make sure your statements are laced with benefits and not features.

Excuse the foul language but you get the idea =]
There's a lot of power behind that little saying and it's something you must keep in mind at all times.
I don't care if you are prospecting someone the "traditional" way or you are following along the guidelines laid out for you in Attraction Marketing Formula; you must always know that YOU are the one in control. You are the one with the solution that will solve your prospect's problems.
You must exemplify posture. Grow a backbone for goodness sake.
How many of you in MLM have gone through that phase of prospecting all of your friends and family members? All of you I bet.
And how many of you remember feeling like a weak beggar pleading for them to come to a meeting and check out you awesome opportunity that's reserved for only those qualified.
Yah right... "for those qualified".
The mere fact that you are desperately begging them to come look at the opportunity says a lot about how YOU perceive this opportunity - it's of no value and you have to chase after people in the hopes of "getting them in". You don't believe in it yourself. This is the message you are sending to your prospect...
Wrong. Wrong. And wrong.
Like a mentor of mine says, "be the hunted, and NOT the hunter".
The idea is to set yourself up as the expert, as the one with the golden opportunity that others want and need. Rather than going after people and trying to SELL them on the opportunity (which makes them rather defensive), position yourself and ATTRACT those who want to BUY from you.
This is precisely the concept of Attraction Marketing Formula. Always come from a position of strength and not of weakness.
