Cold Calls 101 - Fast Track To Mental Chaos

How To Go Broke In 12 Months Or Less

Cold calls, we all love those don't we? I can't think of anything more fun than getting a list of leads, "good, hot, double opt in leads". Network Marketers need leads.

Since the first MLM hit the market place, recruiting was done through soliciting family and friends, buying leads and making cold calls. Some even use the '3 foot rule'. You know, anyone within 3 feet of you is a potential recruit.

Using these methods, it doesn't take even the most self assured of us to realize that this is a losing proposition. Our friends find the slimmest of excuses to avoid us, family stops calling and/or coming to visit. You may even notice that no one comes within your '3-foot' space.

Do you recall the first list of prospects that you bought? You grabbed your day planner, listed the people, their location and phone number in something of an orderly mess.

You probably memorized a script that was furnished by your company or the marketing company that you purchased the leads from. Now you might have jumped up and got a fresh cup of coffee, paced around your office for a while and gave yourself a litany of pep talks.

After about an hour or so of preparing to make your first call, you sat back down at your desk and put your new head phone on. Then, you wasted another few minutes adjusting your head set and called your brother to make sure the thing worked right (Hey, this was worth at least 20 minutes).

Okay, so now you're ready!! As you pick up the phone, you notice that your palms are sweating. "Oh great!!" you say as you slam the phone down, jump up and run to wash your hands.

Getting back to your desk you realize that you have been 'working' for nearly three hours soooo, guess it's time for a break. You could even quit for the day as you only set aside TWO hours a day to work.

Does any of this sound familiar? Did you get a rocky start to your MLM business? I did too. However, after only a week or two, I really got into making cold calls.

In fact, several months and several thousand dollars later, I was still organizing my time and day planner. I was still spending a large amount of time and even larger amounts of money (credit cards of course) buying leads, making calls and getting quite frustrated.

Not all of my calls were hang-ups, angry people or curiosity seekers. I did have a SMALL team, (and even smaller residual checks)some of them were even trying to build their own teams.

The trouble was that if you don't have a lot of time to devote to this method of lead generation not to mention a pocket full of credit cards, you may find yourself in serious debt and making only about $100 or $150 a month in residual income.

There has to be a better way. About here is where I heard about 'Social Marketing'using Web 2.0. Take a deep breath get a fresh cup of coffee and keep reading. You're going to like this.

Social Networking

Lead Generation With Web 2.0

So, what is 'social networking'? Welllll, you may already use this in the real world. It's the process of talking to a circle of people you know, or online, to get information you require.

According to my dictionary, it is: to connect with like minded people who share personal or professional interests, place of origin, education at a particular school, etc.

Such as, you need a good mechanic. What would you do to find him? You'd ask your co-workers and/or family. Perhaps you would even ask a neighbor or the clerk at your favorite super market.

This is social networking. It's simply the process of asking those who know for advice or help.

Social Internet Networking is similar to this. It's called Web 2.0 and you use it every time you do a search on the internet.

You go online, bring up Google, Yahoo or another search engine and type in a phrase that you would like to have more information on.

In order to bring up the best sites to search, you expand or decrease the topic to search. If you are looking for a recipe for lavender cookies, you would not type in 'just' cookies. You would probably include lavender in the search. So too when you are looking for info on your business interests.

Say, for instance, that you would really like to be in business for yourself. You may, or may not, have a product in mind. What would you do first? You would probably go online and look for information on how to start a business.

You may already have a business or at least have one in mind and would like to know the best way to market, recruit or generate leads.

As you start Social Marketing, you should perhaps remember that Social is characterized by friendly companionship or relations. While beginning your venture into this new playing field of network marketing, you may want to proceed with the attitude that your value will be perceived by the value that you offer.

Consider Social Marketing. In my experience with Network Marketing, this is the least stressful method of recruiting.

Is Your MLM Causing Major Frustration?

Are You Working More Now And Enjoying It Less?

After working MLMs several times over the years, I went full time about two years ago. There were many successes and moments of fulfilment. It's nice to be able to help other people achieve their dreams and goals. It's also very nice for you to do the same.

I approached network marketing the same way many others do. Making lists, training, buying leads, training, phone call after phone call, training, attending conference calls, training and attending conventions. Did I remember to include that I did training with the upline?

Maybe my attitude and belief were not what they should have been. My credit cards were beginning to squeal and the monthly minimum was out of control. There has to be a better way.

One day when I opened my mail, there was an interesting message from a very unfamiliar address but I looked anyway. After all, I had made hundreds of phone calls and this could be a reply couldn't it? It was this message - there is a better way to market, it's or 'attraction marketing'

So, what do you think?

Easy As Falling Off a Bike

How Do You Go About Getting Started In Web 2.0 Marketing

Okay, it may not be quite that easy but, this may be a lot easier than you think. It's not magic, you do have to spend a little time and effort to get it set up. You will have to spend some time perfecting and tweaking it but, before you know it, you will have your system set up.

If you currently have a business, MLM or any other online business, then you know how vital it is to your success to spread the word about the services or product you offer.

You could go online and spend literally hundreds of hours searching for sites to post your information on. Or, you could simply buy leads from a multitude of different marketing companies. These companies do the advertising, find the leads and sell them to you for a fairly stiff price.

As mentioned in the first article on this page, making cold calls is a pretty self-defeating process. Rather than do all the work yourself, you could partner with a company that has already done the research.

If you're a little curious about 'Social Marketing', check this out.

This is where you want to be if you're a little more serious.

Okay, you're ready to rock and roll and make a serious step forward in your business. This is where you want to start.

What Do I know?

My Personal Expierence With A Very Good MLM

After a very active life style with experience in many different areas, I retired about two and half years ago. My resume included retail sales (including owning my own clothing store), direct sales, copy writing and journalism.

It didn't take very long for me to become completely bored with retirement. The old body has help up pretty well over the years. My energy and love of learning something new won the battle over being sedentary. I began looking for something to do. This was certainly not as easy as it sounded at the time.

Of course, the 'golden arches' was a possibility but, not for me. I have nothing against those that choose this route, what could be easier? You don't have to think too hard but there didn't seem to be much challenge for my taste.

Within the scope of my experience, I had learned quite bit about the computer. Besides that, I have three sons, a daughter and several grandchildren that are all whiz kids when it comes to the computer. I had no qualms buying a PC and starting an online search for a business that I could run from my home office.

If you are in an online business or just looking for one, I'm sure you know how many opportunities are out there. Maybe you don't. After about two months, I decided that there was no way that I could begin to research all of them.

My mind was a buzz with all the information. I finally started looking at the pictures and if they appealed, I looked at the business. Among the many ads that were sent to my inbox, there was one that offered a 'hobby business' opportunity. It was making Soy Candles. "Now that", I thought, "is something that I could do."

I immersed myself into the process of learning to make the candles, researching the many varied ways that I could market them and telling everyone that I knew, and quite a few people that I didn't know, about my wonderful 'earth friendly' candles.

Before I knew what happened, I had candles in a local craft store and a small wholesale outlet. Not only that, I was building a team of the many people that I talked to about my wonderful business.

I was on my way to a very successful retirement business, or so I thought. Soon, the small checks from the craft store and the equally small residual checks were far less than the money that was going out.

Tax time came around and although there was some benefit to the tax savings, I just didn't think that this was the way that you were supposed to work. Silly me, I thought that there were supposed to be some taxable income. That's the way business is supposed to be isn't it? Not true here!

Back to the drawing board, or should I say keyboard?
The search for a better system began. There were a lot of false starts on this too. But, all good stories should have a happy ending shouldn't they? I found the 'Renegade Marketer'

There is no way that I can tell you how good this SYSTEM really is. I would, however, urge you to take a look and see what you think. You'll be surprised how many friendly and helpful people there are 'on the net'.

Do you have any ideas or hints to share?
