Here Is What I Think About Audio Books Compared To The Radio
Audio books are better than the radio.
Why listen to mindless radio when you can actually use that time to learn something and better your life. When listening to the radio, you are bombarded with advertisements, and moronic views from DJ's. With audio books, you can be taken away to a different world, learn a new set of skills, or basically better your life in some way.

They may be the same price as a hardcover, but you can download the book as often as you like. If you damage or lose your book you are out of luck. If you accidentally delete your mp3 or loose your CD you can always access your online library and download the file for free again.

I agree! My ipod is a virtual library, I have so many books on it. My only issue; why is the price of a digital downloaded mp3 audio book, the same price as hardcopy, bookstore bought book?........maybe that's for another lense? :)

Keep in mind, we do need ALL aspects in the world around us.
We use it and are coexisting upon it. We need updates in the world and what is going on, to make better business decisions.
Yet we need not get enveloped in it to where it effects our personal lives and those around us.

I agree completely. I listen to audiobooks at night when I am in bed instead of the radio and it takes me away. So far, I've read various classics from Huckleberry Finn (incredibly read by Mark Levine) and Tale of Two Cities, to modern fiction. I also listen to Coffee Break French. Why not learn something as well. Voila!

I agree that audio books are they winner. Especially if you listen to something relative to your business on the way to work. You may actually here something that triggers the solution you need that day.

I don't drive anymore (that's NYC for you) so I'm not stuck in traffic with nothing but NPR to entertain me. Oh how I loved NPR. And I used to enjoy streaming the Irish radio network RTE while I was at work. Other than that, though, I don't miss radio at all. And I am starting to listen to audiobooks more on the subways. Just finished Steve Martin's Born Standing Up.

Especially on a road trip of any distance, audio books are WAY better than the radio.

Hey I'm a big fan of Radio and Audiobooks, podcasts can be pretty cool too! I guess you can make this argument win when compared to commercial radio, but in the UK we have the wonderful BBC pumping out several digital radio channels covering most tastes.

I'm subscribed to 4 audiobooks a month from audible.co.uk. It's GREAT!

My only complaint with audio books is that the selection of cassettes is dwindling as the compact disc format edges them out. That is great and technology is wonderful -- but I still have only a cassette player in my older car. It makes the search more interesting.
