Why Buy Audio Books...?

Is there a method to our madness when it comes to the increasing rise in the sales of audiobooks in recent times? I have to answer with adefinitive "yes" when I look at this evolving trend.

We live in an increasingly frentic world. People are busier than ever -- and time has become a dwindling commodity. Therefore, people are constantly looking for ways to make the most use of their "dead time" --
such as the time they spend commuting, jogging, gardening, working out, doing chores, running errands, etc.

With the rising popularity of MP3 players such as the iPod, people have just started to discover that music is not the only thing they can listen to while going about their day.

Now, you can "listen" to books, teleseminars, lectures and podcasts while on-the-go -- and when you don't have time to read. And since today's selection of downloadable audio books is not limited to just fiction and literary works, but runs the gamut from how-to manuals to business books and self-help information, today's mobile society has found out that they can download an unlimited amount of information into their brain, learn a skill, enjoy a murder mystery or an epic romance novel -- and even increase their cultural literacy instead of listening to drive-time radio.

Audio books and other spoken word recordings have become brain food for the time-strapped multi-taskers of the world!

The Order Of The Alchemists

I don't know if you have heard of Philip Gardiner, but he's the guy who wrote the very successful book "The Holy Blood And The Holy Grail". This is the book on which Dan Browne based his mega best seller "The DaVinci Code".

Because this caught the imagination of the public to such a degree, almost everybody is now aware of the infamous history of the Knights Templar.

But not everybody realizes that there was another order from the same time and with the same roots. This Order still exists today and has incredible power.

I've just come across this audio book on AudioDigitalBooks.com that reveals the history of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and in so doing, unveils the occult and sinister forces at play around this organisation.

From the days of heroic battles against Ottoman forces, to the alchemical world of the Grand Master himself, this audio book explores some very difficult questions:

Who are these Knights?
What was their role?
Who gave them authority?

If you'd like to find out more you can listen to a sample from this audiobook here read by the author himself...

Audio Book Clubs

If your a member of an offline book club then you've probably found that it can be difficult to keep up with the reading list. An alternative for you could be to join an audio book club. You can listen to the club's current selection on CD or download them to an mp3 player and listen while you're going about your daily activities.

When you're a member of an audio book club you automatically get access to thousands of dollars worth of audio books for a small monthly fee. From classics to current best sellers on CD, MP3-CDs, tapes or downloads. If you download the books the download normally expires after about 14 days, but the same title can be downloaded again if you don't finish it in time. I think that this is a great way to find time to read.

I also see that Libraries in York County have come up with a way to give busy people a chance to read.

The libraries are offering online book clubs.

You can access it when and where you want. You can go into different clubs and get chapters or a portion of an audio book sent to your email. By the end of the week, you can decide whether or not you want to continue reading it.

Clive Cussler Audio Books...

Dubbed by The New York Post as "just about the best storyteller in the business." Clive Cussler has nearly 100 million copies of his best-selling Dirk Pitt® novels in print. His initial foray into fiction was in 1973, when he wrote his first Dirk Pitt® novel.

Since then he has continued to write Dirk Pitt® adventures while living a life that nearly parallels that of his action hero. He founded NUMA (National Underwater & Marine Agency, a non profit group) and has had an amazing record of finding over 60 shipwrecks, one of which was the long-lost Confederate submarine Hunley.

for years I used to listen to self improvement casette tapes. Recently I move and to clean the clutter I gave away hundreds of these now obsolete forms of media to advance who you are personally and professionally.

It never occured to me that books on CD or DVD could be as valuable these days.

Thanks for the information and for opening my thinking to the use of audio books.
