What's this lens?

I started to listen to music when I was a thumb-sucker. So it had a huge impact on my life. Then for some strange reasons concerning Slash (former GNR guitarist), I took up the guitar and got so addicted to the instrument that I improved myself dramatically.
I began to collect some classical pieces of J.S.Bach, Chopin, Paganini and Mozart. They altogether inspired me so much that unknowingly, I was writing really beautiful music out of thin air. But along with me, I had only a not-so-powerful PC, a default built-in soundcard (which obviously sucks) and ofcourse, my beloved Epiphone Les Paul copy guitar. And the worst part of all, I didn't know how to write music! So I lost many of my nice pieces due to memory loss (sounds serious? it wasn't). I was desperate to save my creation and like a scientist who has found the formula of the universe, began entering inside my head evil thoughts. Yes! You got it! To download pirated software.

Bad,Bad Conscience
To make matter worst still, inside me grew the urge to download whatever I can despite of what I need. It was like someone giving you the key to the door of all the music talents (this is really an offer you can't refuse). I visited lots of torrent sites and needless to say, downloaded a lots of torrents. Voila! My music making blast-off! I was finally happy. I could record the things my mind was creating and even make them better with the software I got. The guys who made them must be genius.

The Other Shoulder : Good,Good Conscience
One day while I was making music and at the same time appreciating the nice talented sound engineers, something hit me hard. Right into my heart. Are these guys getting the respect they should get for all their hardwork that's making my music successful? I felt bad, terrible. And I should mention it beforehand, I was making enough dough selling my albums which became an instant hit in my country. Ironically, my music was being pirated and the selling rate dropped significantly. I was mad! All my works gone in vain. I would not let it pass by. But in reality, I couldn't do a thing. It was a truth that continued to go on.
Suddenly, I felt like the audio engineers and felt a heavy hammer hitting my head, brain and everything else. So this is what they feel when I download a small piece of their work.
I visited the manufacturers' websites and with the money I made finally bought their products. I bought each and every one of the software that I had downloaded before. It made me light and opened up a new arena for me to create music without feeling all the guilt. I thought this whole process as a loan method which I guess everybody will share and spread as this brings equality between the talented musicians (not those that are hungry just for the thrill of downloading) and the software manufaturers.

Conclusion
I know there are a lot of typical musicians who are dying to unleash the inner musical beast inside them but haven't quite got the money to buy these pieces of wonder. Therefore, I've uploaded the full version of the plugins and synthesizers that I use believing that every one of the downloaders will actually later on pay the manufacturers off. This is not a warez community but a community of musicians with good hearts who just love to make good music. Enjoy!

Lessons from Berklee College of Music

Berklee College of Music, founded in 1945, is an independent music college in Boston, Massachusetts. It has an enrollment of approximately 4,000 students and a 2004 faculty of approximately 430. Berklee offers an accredited four-year baccalaureate degree or diploma.

History
Berklee was founded by Lawrence Berk and was originally named Schillinger House of Music, after his teacher Joseph Schillinger. The original purpose of the school was to highlight the Schillinger System of musical harmony and composition. After expansion of the school's curriculum in 1954, Berk changed the name to Berklee School of Music after his son Lee Berk. When the school received its accreditation, the name was changed to Berklee College of Music in 1973. Lee Berk never formally studied music, instead focusing on Business and Real Estate Law; however, his daughter Lucy Berk is an alumna of the college.

At the time of its founding, almost all music schools focused primarily on classical music. The original mission of Berklee was to provide formal training in jazz, rock, and other contemporary music not available at other music schools.

Admission requirements for applicants include a minimum two years of formal music study on their primary instrument and/or significant practical experience in musical performance, a diploma from an accredited secondary school with satisfactory marks in college-preparatory courses, Test scores on either the SAT, ACT, are optional while the TOEFL (for international students) is required. In 2007, a live audition was added as an admission requirement. This is a change from the school's open-admittance policy it used for many years.
