    Great lens, particularly for those who want to come down under and try a glass. All the festivals listed here look like a great opportunity to try the local vintages. What are the best festivals that people would recommend for first timers to try out when they visit and why?

    Excellent information! I first had Australian wine a few years ago and it wasn't the best experience. I stopped trying them for awhile until one day my father mentioned one that he absolutely loved. Coincidentally, the next day I saw the same wine at Whole Foods and decided to pick it up. I'm really glad I did because I fell in love with it! I am now a huge fan of many different reds from Australia.

    1pm till 6pm Saturday 22nd March 2008
    A day of free music, fine wines from 3 wineries, a gourment sausage sizzle, grape 'games' for the afternoon and great views over the water.

    The Lovedale Long Lunch is a progressive-type lunch where visitors wine and dine their way around the seven participating Lovedale wineries over the weekend enjoying a glass of wine, gourmet food, fabulous music and art. Come for the day or stay the weekend but don't miss this exciting moveable feast.

    The participants in the 2008 event are Allandale Winery with Infuzion Restaurant,Cooper Wines with The Cellar Restaurant, Gartelmann with Chez Pok, Wandin Valley Estate with Bel Posto Café/Restaurant, Sandalyn Estate with Red Salt, Warraroong Estate with IL Cacciatore and Emma's Cottage Vineyard with Amanda's Restaurant.

    Eat; drink, dance and most of all have fun!
