This page is a dedication to the Australian Army who are currently serving in major Operations in Afghanistan and East Timor, and many minor operations inculding Iraq, Solomon Islands, and the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO). The current strength of the Australian Army stands at 28,000 Regulars (Full-Time) and 30,000 Reserves (Active and Standby)

The Australian men and women of the Australian Army, give up their time, family, freedoms and in some cases their life to defend our nation. This page is a small way of repaying their dedication.

Australian Regular Army

Structure

The Australian Army is made up of 3 Regular Brigades. The detailed structure of 1 Brigade which is based in Darwin can be seen below. For an entire view of the Australian Army refer to the picture below. The strength of the regular army is 30,235 with 29,000 reserves.

F88 Austeyr

The primary weapon employed by the Australian Army is the F88 Austeyr that is produced in Australia under contact from Steyr Mannlicher . Its is a 5.56mm calibre gas operated bolt action rifle with a bullpup design (action located behind trigger). The are multiple variants and the rifle has been modified from the original weapon first bought from Steyr Mannlicher. The following pictures show the evolution of the Austeyr.

    When I was in Iraq back in '08 we traded unit patches with some Aussie Army guys, got a cool "Desert Rat' Patch!
