Nobel Prize in Literature

Every author from any country can win a Nobel Prize, but I thought I'd mention Australia's winner first.
Australia's other book awards cannot really compare with such international prestige and they are mentioned further on. I will concentrate on the Miles Franklin award, because that is the major award for adult fiction.

In 1973 Patrick White was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature He was, in my humble opinion the best Australian novelist to date. I have read several of his works and his biography.

His works (excluding poetry, plays, short stories and non-fiction) are:

Happy Valley, 1939
The Living and the Dead, 1941
Aunts Story, 1948
The Tree of Man, 1955
Voss, 1957
Riders in the Chariot, 1961
The Solid Mandala, 1966
The Vivisector, 1970
The Eye of the Storm, 1973
A Fringe of Leaves, 1976
The Twyborn Affair, 1980
Memoirs of Many in One (1986)
